I got fired today....

and I just found the job two weeks ago. I was doing a cashier job and my register came up $20 short. Probably had a $20 stuck together when I gave out change. It took me a year to find a job period.

needless to say, i'm not in a very good mood.

the manager liked me to. Said i was picking up things fast and was a hard worker. I had a 30 day probationary period. couldn't have anything happen during that period to keep the job.

Damn, over 20 bucks? I work at a grocery store and we've had cashiers get caught stealing money, using counterfeit coupons, etc multiple times and they have gotten to keep their jobs. We've also had registers come up short, managers freak out, and then they wind up finding the money stuck in the back of the register or accidentally in a pile of 1s or something like that. That sounds a little extreme to me.

I just hope it wasn't a screw job like it happened to me several years ago. I was also a cashier at a restaurant, I was in 2 weeks to the job and I was also a fast learner, when one day the manager took my spot so i could go eat, then later that day. I came up 32 dollars short. I got fired as well. I showed them everything I had, I've never taken money in my life. They made me pay out of pocket when i got my last paycheck. 2 weeks later the same thing happened to another new girl. this time $40 were missing. This went on for a month. Finally they found out it was the assistant manager that was stealing the cash while the cashier was out taking a lunch. fuged up man.

That is beat up. You and the other girl should have their jobs back, with reimbursement. Nothing like that happened to me, because nobody else was on my register. It locks after a few minutes and i gotta type in a code i came up with.

Either way, what's done is done. I'll start looking again for another job in the morning.

Being a cashier sucks ass. They actually did you a favor. Probably one of the most stressful jobs out there. I used to do it. Did you offer to pay back the 20 bucks? Idk if that would've helped anyway though.

I worked as a stock boy back in high school. If a cashier came up short, they ahd to make it up, but if they were over, the company kept the cash. That didn't seem right!

I got fired too, I was an assistant mngr and I would send the new employees on lunch break and would cover their register and I would always take some money...Got busted.
