Bobcats trade J Rich to Suns for Diaw & Raja!!!

Great move Bobcats. You're a team that has trouble scoring points, so you trade your best scorer for a guy who played one good year to earn his contract and has since sucked, and a defensive specialist who is slipping rapidly. And then you trade the only first round pick in the last five years you've taken who was worth his drafted position and trade him and what will surely be a high second rounder (since the team sucks) for a point guard who's going to be third string.

I agree 100%. I know the Cats couldnt find a good deal so I guess they had to take what they could.

So basically the Cats gave up Brendan Wright, a legit and upcoming PF who plays a position they need, and Dudley, for Diaw, who isnt as good as Wright and makes more money than Wright, and a bench player.

This trade will only work if the Bobcats use Diaw as the player he is...a non-traditional big man. He has a wide variety of skills that can only be maximized in an fast-paced, open court environment. He is a good low post defender, can knock down shots and create mismatches at the offensive end. He, DJ, Gerald and Raymond have the potential to push the ball and play that style. It remains to be seen if Coach Brown has it in him to loosen the reigns and get after it.

I don't get it at all. This team has made only a few good moves in their entire existence.

Selecting G force in the expansion draft.

Trading for JRich even in light of his contract.

Drafting JDudley.

Signing Larry Brown.

Of the 4 good things, we just shipped two off for a pair of role players.

Still not sure how I feel about this trade....I think Diaw can help if used properly like some people have already touched on...Raja is a veteran, which we need. My question is, now that Singletary is here, will they move Raymond or just be 3 deep at PG?

If Raymon is moved they would have to get another veteran PG. They've been looking for a veteran third point. There is no way that Coach Brown would go with two rookies at that spot on the floor. Barring another trade it seems likey that DJ and Raymond will play together the majority of the time.

    • I think we should be balanced here. There seems to be a deference here to Texans wisdom and Panthers foolery when it came to these picks. But let's review, at draft time Caserio reportedly had one foot out of the door. McNair was in the same category as Tepper (people actually suspected he paid Buzbee to go after his own player, Watson). The fans were down in a football town in a football state. We are giving way too much hindsight credit to the Texans. At the same time, all we have to go by are reports from both teams and other media. We are being creative in saying "no one knows" what the Texans were thinking while being convinced that "we know" what the Panthers were doing. We have no access to either HQ, but people who do said that Houston wanted Bryce and also saud Tepper wanted Bryce.  I also think any reading into the Texans not going to #1 has to also consider that they also ended up moving to #3. It's just as possible that the capital used to go to #3 would've been needed to go to #1. Winding up with #1 only or with #2 and #3 would be an easy decision.
