Otah was a great player in Fox's offense. In Rivera's he isn't as useful. Bell and Otah are almost splitting reps evenly at this point.

What are you talking about? Otah has played the vast majority of snaps in every game he was in. The most Bell has taken from Otah is 22, followed by 11 and 6. Most recently Otah played all snaps in the N.O. game.

In addition your trading your starting right tackle based mainly on one game from Bell. Also if your are to believe that what Rivera said is true, ( very similar players) then Bell wouldnt be as useful in Rivera offense either.

problem 1: who the hell is crazy enough to give us any dt of value for someone as injury prone as otah?

problem 2: we could really use extra depth along the oline. we could also still use a rg, otah and bell could possibly just play the entire right side of the line down the road.

problem 3: would be a short term solution for a bigger problem. these two rookies are playing better then your average rookie dt. we also have ron edwards back next year. no need to bury our future at the position.

problem 4: might not help the run defense very much this year given the injuries to our lb corps. most big runs against us come from lbs jumping at first sight of a hole and completely losing contain.

problem 5: in terms of record, we are still one of the worst teams in the nfl. if we are going to make the playoffs this year this trade will not be a strong enough factor to definitively change that. being slightly better this year but not making the playoffs is the same as being bad and not making the playoffs. especially with a team this young, we'd be foolish to hinder its own growing problems.

Another young DT is the last thing we need. If we had any interior pressure, we would have won last week. The lack of it allowed Brees' to convert about 6 of all those 3rd down conversions, including two crucial ones on the last drive. If you don't see the need for a DT, you aren't paying attention.

completely disagree. while we got manhandled by the saints oline, a dt of the value we would get for otah would not change this. almost every third down was the result of poor play from out linebackers. 2 or more players would almost always move in to cover someone in the flat or running an out pattern, leaving whoever one person was previously covering wide open. this happened throughout the entire game. thats exactly what sean payton's offense tried to exploit.

Honestly would rather get draft picks for him. Really wish was in better health. There is no denying the talent. Would be a big time gamble to deal him, but Bell has played solid to date.

So if the Lions were willing to trade Ndamukong Suh for Otah there's 32 people here that would never make that deal because they wouldn't even explore the possibility of moving the guy. I guess a one dimensional RT that's injured all the time and no longer fits our offense is suddenly untouchable.

I don't see any advantage in trading Otah for a DT. What does it do for this team this year? Not much. I'll take my chances in the off season while keeping Otah.

What?! How long do you expect our LB's to have to hold lockdown coverage? They can only do it for so long, at some point we have to get a push from the interior of the d-line. Until then, QB's will be able to step up in the pocket all day and deliver strikes anywhere on the field.

that is not the question. Be realistic. Suh would not be available, if he was, it would take a hell of a lot more that otah to get him.

I love how ya take something, twist it into something completely unrealistic, and then run with it.
