Newton is a band aid over how bad we really are.

It's funny that Cam's accomplishments are due to the coaches but the ints and so called "bad decision making" are all his fault.

Not funny at all. Actually, only the first INTwas a fluke play...the other two were squarely on Cam. Notice no more 400 yard games once Chud realized he would have to use the running game at some point since teams weren't going to stack the box anymore.

So his hail mary pass with 4 secs left in which maybe 6 guys were all bunched up in the end zone waiting for the pass was squarely on Cam?

Statements like this make it hard to take your other points seriously.

If its all scheme, why aren't everyone doing it?

Cam is not the only one on this team. But he is the engine that makes all the other parts going. You can pimp your ride as much as you want but without an engine you will not be going anywhere. Last year we had a nice ride, but the engine was a shitty one.

Oh and a nice ride with a huge engine needs a good driver. In Chud we have a good driver. But the good driver needs a great engine to be any good...

The point? Cam need Smith, Chud etc. Chud need Smith, Newton etc and Smith need Cam, Chud etc. Why the fug do we have to go through all this nonsense again? We have had the same discussions the last many years with Delhomme and Smith.

Who cares who makes who as long as our car drives. And it does, sure the steering need some fine-tuning but its going and going fast.

The D on the other hand.....

After going back and watching each game several times, Cam threw the ball better and ran the ball better in the Atlanta game than in any game this year.

Think I'm crazy? Go back and review them yourselves. Cam's accuracy was excellent in the Atlanta game. He got picked twice on two great plays.

Stats don't always tell the whole story.

You are totally correct! I felt the same way after re-watching the game.

Cam had an excellent game. There really aren't many reasons to criticize him to this point.

I kinda disagree. Cam has made the team better, but he has also made it worse. If Clausen was out there, the rest of the team would be trying to win games because they know Clausen wont get it done. With Cam out there, the rest of the team becomes a spectator. Waiting for Cam to make plays instead of making plays themselves.

you don't actually believe this sh*t................ do you?

If the definition of a band-aid is a franchise quarterback who can move the offense and score points, then most teams have the same band-aid. Without one you are 2010 Panthers or the 2011 Colts.

How many teams without their starting quarterback would look bad instantly and struggle mightily. Anyone thing that Green Bay with all their offensive and defensive weapons would be undefeated without Rodgers. What about Brees??

The quarterback is the most important position on the field bar none. Without a good one every team would look bad.

I must be the only one who doesn't think this thread has a valid point.

it dawned on me sunday. take him out of the game and we are just awful. we would never have a chance in any of those games much less a win.

it is entertaining to watch, but the reality is really disheartening.

as much as i doubted the kid at draft, i am glad we have him. cannot wait till the rest of team, mainly defense, catches up.

also we should have taken lloyd, we need that threat on the other side of smith.

dumb move, imo.

Indy sucks without Manning.

New Orleans would suck big time without Brees

San Diego would suck without Rivers

Dallas sucked without Romo (actually they still suck with Romo...but that is a whole different story)

Your great observation is that a team sucks when they don't have a starting quality QB leading them....thanks for that bit ow wisdom.

Accept the facts....

We have a rookie coach....a rookie QB....a new system on offense....a new system on defense....lost our starting NT for the season....lost our two pro bowl LB's for the season....are building a young team to compete for years to come.
