Why our team is stalled

Lumps

Recommended Posts

So it's Tuesday, pretty dead around here as usual until Cam starts to win and the fairweathers start posting again, so I thought I'd share why I believe this year is showing the repercussions of a "better safe than sorry" plan JR took in what I would call our "frozen 2010" year.

Well, there was no lockout.

So with no lockout + a plan that includes preparing for an lockout= negative consequences. We are set back even further. This is just one more reason to be patient with this team. It's more than scheme as well, players have not won in a long time, they were 'abandoned' last season. They are not used to taking a coach seriously.

Like it or not we are still feeling the decisions made in 2010, our growing as a team was stalled in 2010. Other teams took chances and signed other players for the future, we did not. To us there was no future...but there was. So while others prepared for the future we prepared for a lockout.

It might even be couple drafts until we really click.

So have patience and go re-read your JR apology letters, it made me feel better.

....They are not used to taking a coach seriously.

Dude, its their dam job. This isn't high school or college where they play for fun. These guys get paid millions of dollars. Know what happens in other occupations when you don't take you boss seriously? You get fired.

What will make this team feel better will be to win a few games plain and simple. And that time is coming in the next few weeks. Anyone who really thought we would win many the first five or six games games was deluding themselves.

4 of the six team we have faced so far were playoff teams and Arizona we faced at their home where they play much better than on the road. The only easy opponent we have faced was Jacksonville and we beat them for our only win.

Will Washington, Minnesota, Tennessee, and the Colts be easy games?? There are no easy games in the NFL but they are teams who aren't vastly better than us and several of them are in transition the same as we are. What should we expect? To split those 4 and be 3 and 8 at the end of these 4 games with a loss to Detroit as well in week 11. Anything better than that will be a huge bonus.

A figure much higher than 50% represents the number of posts on this board still fueled by more piss and vinegar than objective opinions.

People are still mad. Maybe they have too much invested emotionally, maybe they just have a love affair with winning in spite of all facts in front of them. Who knows.

It's the wrong time to expect too many rational responses on anything intelligent. But I like your post and like 55 said about the team. We will have to win to correct the Huddle.

It's the defense, fix that and we start winning.

I wish it was. Run blocking is horrid. WR have difficulty getting open which is why Cam throws high and to the TE's so much. Poor route or predictable route running would be my guess. Play calling is suspect. 3rd and 2 should not be a hell mary down field when you have 2 of the best rb's in the league an a qb in cam that can scramble as well as he can. Special teams, where do I begin? The blocking is awful. PR/KR guys are getting nailed as soon as they get the ball. Also, its gonna take time, but Rivera has had some brain farts.

Our offense isn't perfect, but it's playing well enough to win games, if our defense could play as well as our offense, we would be winning.

    • He's handing off play calling duties to fuging Brad Idzik as well so, either that mouth breather can run the playbook and Canales can grow as an all around head coach or it will be a horrible decision and both of them and BY can screw off. I'm fine with that as long as it isn't just another excuse for BY to get another year with another coach worthy of working around his limitations as a qb.
    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
