Is this the best offense we'eve ever had?..

Awesomeness!!

Should it made it more clear. Out of the good offenses. LOL. Certainly not overall. We have had a lot worse.

What?

You change your story so much you can't keep up. I understand.

You it made it more clear that this is a good offense. Just not up to your standards for efficiency.

Meanwhile in the other thread you said that our defense isn't good enough to hold teams under 17 points and described our defense as mediocre.

And somehow you have used all that to try to translate that into it is our offense's fault we don't have a better record.

The rest of my post is self explanatory.

I am not going to re-hash all of this but I just find it funny that is all.

The gist of my entire point is that I wish our defense was the type that could win games for us if our offense struggles. Right now they can't do that.

I think both of us agree that this offense could be better at getting more points on the board. I just wish our defense didn't make that a necessity.

Is this the best Panther offense ever?

Short answer, no. Long answer, maybe by the end of the season. I need to see some consistency, which is crucial to having a potent offense. Too many Cam INTs and the running game, while it showed up against Washington, needs to stick around before this is the best Panther offense ever.

May very well be by the end of the year. Been unbelievably impressive through 7 games, almost unbelievable when you consider how utterly horrid the offense was last year. I do hope the Panthers can keep Chud for a long time. I think the HC talk is a little premature, but guys like Chud can have meteoric rises in the coaching ranks sometimes.

The 1999 Offense was impressive. Don't know about everyone else, but I loved watching the 49ers when I was a little kid and I really though Seifert was going to be a great coach here. Whoops...

2003 Offense was great during the playoffs and flashed some during the regular season. I think it could have been as explosive as this year, but Fox and Henne wanted to protect leads and never went for the jugular.

2005 Offense was pretty dang good. Smitty had an extraordinary year, even when he was double and triple-teamed. Both 2003 and 2005 had great defenses too which helped a lot with field position, etc.

2008 Offense had the best running game, and Smitty made a lot of unbelievable catches to bail Delhomme out. Moose was a great #2 that year too. Best running attack ever, but Delhomme's limitations slowed passing attack.

This year's offense is peddle to the metal. It's too bad Newton and Smitty are somewhat like 2 ships passing in the night. Newton/Smitty for years together in their prime could be like Young/Rice

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
