Nice article in the Observer about the boy Cam gave the ball too

Bottom line: it was still Cam's choice to do it - Shula can yell in his ear all he wants but if Cam is really this egomaniac then he could ignore Shula with absolutely no repercussions. Is the team going to discipline him because he didn't follow coach Shula's orders to give the ball to a kid? LOL

I'm glad some folks on here were totally finished products at 21, most of us (who are being real with ourselves) were not. Shula recommended Cam do this as a way to give back when he celebrates and the idea appealed to Cam so he did it.

...and if this was simply a PR move and Cam is this big phony, then why did he admit that coach Shula told him to do it? He could have taken credit for the idea and nobody would have known the difference.

Fact is he and coach Shula talked about it ahead of time and Cam liked the idea, but he was so jacked up after scoring the TD that he forgot, so coached reminded him and Cam immediately picked the ball up and found a kid. If Cam was being forced into doing it he could have just blown coach off and said he didn't hear him.

But by all means, keep finding silly reasons to support your blind hate.

Yes, a coach recommending a player share his celebration with the fans by finding a kid to give the ball to is very troubling...

A coach having to remind the player that it isn't about all about him. It's a team effort. Share this with the fans.

With all that, and the coach yelling in his ear, Cam still did his own celebration, dropped the football, turned around, gave some high fives, started walking away, then saved face by remembering the kids.

Real special moment.

Worth remembering he's still a 22 year old kid.

There's a lot of stuff I know now that I didn't know when I was that age. Part of the reason I do know it now is because someone told me.

(and yes, 22 year olds are "kids" to me; now all of you shut up, turn down your loud music and get off my lawn)

I do remember. All I am pointing out is that we shouldn't act like Cam is a saint when it wasn't his idea to begin with and he wasn't going to do it but Shula kept screaming into his helmet. It's not a bad thing, but it's not a great thing either.

Great for Cam and the little kid.

But Cam is a bad person with character concerns

Good article. Nice gesture by Cam I would like to see this become a tradition.
