Good analysis of game-clinching drive against Skins

I love Football Outsiders Walkthrough article because they always breakdown a great drive. Today's article focuses on our game-clinching drive against the Skins that ended with the 2-yd TD to LaFell. I'll just add the takeaway point of the piece because the whole thing is worth reading:

Best of all, it showed once again how remarkably Newton is developing. He never strayed from the pocket in this drive, except for the designed run. Part of Newton’s success is how programmed the offense appears to be: Newton does not have to check down a lot. Newton’s comfort level in this low-gimmick offense is also stunning, and credit for that must go to the coordinator who is bringing him along.

When we give our awards at the end of the season, remember Coach Chud for Coordinator of the Year. I think he is the best candidate right now, by far.

I rewatched the game the other day. Newton in the 2nd half was on fire. Pretty much perfect. He and Smitty had it going. Hopefully it carries over to this Sunday.

I believe that there was a penalty on that play so it doesn't count.
