Dispelling the new myth about our offense and defense

Carolina Panthers. Tied for 8th. Doing a half ass jobs at checking numbers just confuses you. We average more per game than some of those teams we are tied with, because some have played more games.

1. Your link goes to individual players, not team stats.

2. We are 18th in forced fumbles. How the hell did you get 8?

What you do is, you click on team. You click on stats. Scroll down to the bottom where you find forced fumbles under "team statistics", you click on that and then you click on the little tag that says REC. It will rank them.

You will find us tied for 8th. We were tied for 5th last week. And if you divide the number of fumble recoveries by 8 games you will get our "per game" average. If you also add them all up and divide them by 9 followed by 32 you will get your "league average"...you will find out our defense is ABOVE league average in forced fumble recoveries.

Of course tied for 8th also means the same thing.

Or you can just try this link: http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/_/stat/defense/sort/fumblesRecovered

Us "trolls" know how to do things like this.

And you trolls really know how to post misleading stats. It is just as accurate to say we are 17th in fumble recoveries (below average) as it is to say we are 8th (above average). The reason is because there are 10 teams tied with 5 recoveries.

I guess you just count on people not checking you for accuracy.

Actually, it's not as accurate to say we are 17th. The team at 17th only has 4, we have 5. Maybe 16th, but definitely not 17th.

You "non trolls" sure don't know how to read.

Well considering you responded to somebody who said

The truth is, we are not very good at forcing fumbles. Nothing you can stat me will improve those numbers.

Since he mentioned forced fumbles and not fumble recoveries logic would tell me that is what the conversation was about unless I missed something.

Wrong, unless you are using a different link than he is.

Cleveland is in 18th place with 4.

Everyone above them has more than 4. It is quite simple really. Just read the number next to the team.

also, our defense being average in a single category doesn't mean they are good or even average.

I love the homerism with that thought though. It may be sad to believe that average is good, but with our D, I'd take average.

It does baffle me that our D last year WAS only a smidge above average, yet we thought, entering this year, that we could keep ourselves in games. Then hope our O could muster enough points to garner a few more wins.

Funny how things work out.

As it is too darm early in the morning. Let me ask you a question? Why...Why...Oh why, do you insist on feed the wildlife?

TRD shouldn't even be in the same category of PFFL. TRD is 10000000000000000x the poster that PFFL will ever be.

I have said it before, every board needs a villain. And the Huddle is a better place with TRD here. I know I am in the minority on this opinion.

    • I would write “give remmers tight end help” on a yellow sticky note and stuck it in shulas playbook the night before superbowl 50.
    • And don’t worry about Bryce he will be great… Peyton Manning had a horrible rookie year too 😂
    • Nothing wrong with it at all until you start telling others they are bad fans or not fans. But you are the good fan because you never say negative stuff about the team.    I did many years of that type of uninformed fanning because there really was no info and coverage like there is with the internet.    I mean, I used to go to the store and get Street and Smith’s annual football issue. That was about the extent of what you could get if you didn’t live in a big city with sportswriters covering and reporting.  There was no video to look at or replay the games and if you didn’t live in the market you could only rarely see your football team play.    TI have fanned since being a kid in the early 1960s, and as late as 1995 - ‘97 I lived in Atlanta and good luck getting more than 3 or 4 games a year on TV. No radio either. No print coverage outside of an AP recap and box unless they played Atlanta.  People today that have always had the network connection don’t know.    I wasn’t very educated about the Panthers until I finally got internet.
