A little perspective

CRA

Recommended Posts

The only perspective I have is the one from the stands where I watch the defense give up first down after first down, either by blown assignments or penalties. Not sure if it's Rivera or McDermott, but it's not the same as just plain getting beat.

I don't know if I would fire anyone, but I think that the performance to date would really make me nervous about the hire. I sure hope he works out though, because if he doesn't it's going to suck for all of us.

You should post more often CJ, I've basically said the same thing, but apparently I'm considered too emotionally invested to be an "intelligent" or "reasonable" fan.

These problems aren't being young or inexperienced, it's a result of being stupid, not being sound in fundamentals, and not having to be accountable for your mistakes.

How dare you expect this team to win. We're on a 10-year plan and will go 9-7 by 2017 if all goes well. Do not say anyone is not perfect!

I agree with this. I think 9 games with a rookie QB and a team that finished dead last the year before is too early to call for a coach's head, but we're way too sloppy on both sides of the ball and our special teams are absurd, and these are at least partly coaching issues.

And don't forget, I should expect these 30-3 drubbings at home more often.

...

THE F*CKING COLTS PLAYED BETTER THAN US TODAY.

It is just one loss, but it's a more important loss than just any loss. This was the opening of the "second season" we had under performed in the first half and this was where Ron was going to show that he and the staff had gotten the team right. No more excuses, no more talk about "missing OTA's", lockout, etc (btw, that didn't hold back Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers, just sayin').

This was going to be a statement game coming out of the bye where we were going to "raise expectations" about this team. To say that didn't happen is an understatement.

The entire team played like they had expected the Titans to have just come back from vacation as well. It was utterly amazing how bad we were today. I can't name a single position or player that played well today. It was as if the coaching staff had forgotten to tell the players that this was a real game with real implications.

I never expected this team to get to 8-8 much less the playoffs (cough). I also never expected a collapse this complete. For the record, Fox's Broncos have now won more games with that GOAT Tim Teebow, than Rivera with Cam. A compete WTF moment if there ever was one..

I hang this on the coaching staff.

First, the Special Team coach Brian Murphy must be fired or resign. If I was Marty, I'd accept a misspelled crayon resignation signed with a cats footprint. This man has done absolutely nothing with the squad he has. I know the talent level isn't up to par, snuff, whatever you wish to call it, but he hasn't been able to get these professional athletes to play up to their level nor has he inspired them to achieve more than they should either. If a coach cannot either teach or inspire, he is an abject failure in this system. He must go.

This leads me to the Linebacker coach Warren Bellin. This man has done more to destroy this season than any opposing team. I have never seen such poor coaching at this position in the Panthers history. It's not all bad luck that we've had health issues at this position. One of the most important jobs a coach has is to help a player learn how to do his job "the right way". This means more than just where to line up. It's about teaching technique that allows you to be effective AND protect yourself from injury. Our depleted core of players that make up the backbone of our 4-3 defense have been playing with little regard to their safety while simultaneously getting nowhere. I have never seen so many injuries at one position in panthers history, it's not a fluke of misfortune. Sean McDermott has to step up and stop being the lifelong friend to Warren that he is and be a man and fire him for Sean's own good.

Lastly, I want an apology from Ryan Kalil for such a crappy performance. Not only was his blocking absolutely for garbage, but he had multiple low snaps as he tried to disguise the timing of the snap since he was getting beat so soundly.

- Carolina was the worst team in the NFL last year

- New staff already has as many wins as last season with 7 to go

- Offense went from THE worst in the NFL to one of the top offenses.

- We have a rookie QB and are still working on our new scheme

- In franchise history I don't recall ever losing our top 2 defensive players early in the same season.

Carolina was NOT in win now mode this season. It is year one of rebuilding. They have done a great job with Cam and are ahead of pace with him.....that doesn't mean winning was realistic once our defensive players went down.

The fire Rivera talk is retarded. Simple and plain. he doesn't have the bodies to run his defense....most simply shouldn't be seeing the reps he is forced to give them. he got dealt a bad hand this year......give him a healthy D and some roster moves they couldn't make this past off season and he will prove why he was hired.

I totally agree....

If the fans want to blame him for the losses, then they should also give him reps for the great work that Cam and the Offense has done the first 8 games.....

I'd love to be at 4 wins / 5 losses right now, but that is how it goes sometimes....

hold tight and keep the faith.... the worst of the schedule is yet to come....

Lots of people implying he should be fired in this thread if not now, then very soon without dramatic improvement. Post 19 just says it.

Dock was being sarcastic

And no one implied "very soon"

If a coach can't get a team together in 2-3 years, there may be an issue.

That's why you call them out when it doesn't seem right (regardless if it Rex Ryan, Lovie Smith, or a Ron Rivera) so they can look to improve. Be patient, give some time, and expect speed bumps. No one wants him gone right now, but there's something missing beyond injuries.

No ones throwing themselves off a cliff but just saying the cliff is there...don't go near it.

Please for the love of God stop saying this. It is not true. We have not been a top offense since after the first game of the season. We have been ranked high in yards.

We are the 25th ranked offense in scoring efficiency. So we have the 25th ranked offense, not top 10. This is what most people that understand what it means to be a top offense rank "top offenses by", not yards. And when you factor in a negative turnover margin we are one of the worst offenses in the league.

The top 10 offenses in the league are all winning so please stop repeating this cause it's what it's continuing the issue. A top 10 offense is efficient in scoring points against their respected defense, not getting yards. Yards is not what you rank an offense by. Yards per point is.

We were good in yards because we faced the two worst defenses we have faced so far this year in the first 2 games. Green Bay and Arizona. You look good against the worst in the league but we still lost because their were better. So even though we had a better defense, we lost because their offenses were better.

This is the #1 reason you guys keep blaming the defense. Because you are under the false impression we have a top offense so it must be the defense. But we don't.

We have yet to even face a good all around team yet. We will next week. And they have a top offense and a top defense. This will be the first this year.

News Flash !!

Panthers were never a playoff contender this season ..

How soon fans forget FOX ran this team into the ground so bad, that Smitty was leaving at all cost ...

Enter a completly new coaching staff

Installing completly new offense & defense schems

This was and is a growing season ,a learning season,a get rid of the FOX players and mentality season

A true expectation was 4 wins maybe 5

And you also have Hurneys blunders to overcome

Why pay $$$$$ to Deangelo if he does not fit into the new offense ?

This season is a wash

It takes at the least 2 drafts and F/A for a New coach to be able to dump the former coaches players that don't fit now and to find his players.

And mistakes will be made

Parcells.Belicheck ,Cowher all made mistakes their first seasons

But you learn
