Jordan gross

Has been getting a free pass in my eyes and has been a liability in pass blocking lately, a lot lately. Maybe he can move to the other side or something but he's getting beat like a drum.

Everybody is playing for their job and Jordan Gross is not doing well. Is he someone who needs to fear their job next season? Cam has been taking tooo many blindside hits and #69 is usually on his ars in the background, or another holding penalty.

Jordan, play like you want it!!

kick him to RT, take a LT high in the draft.

people seem to forget that this line was built under fox to run block. he was ok with having guys whose pass-blocking skills weren't wonderful because it wasn't their primary job. the chudz offense is going to require new skillsets along with that new passing philosophy.

He's actually been quite good this year, and he was going up against the best defensive line we will face all year. The problems on this line start with Bell, who forces poor blocking schemes to make up for his deficiencies in pass blocking.

What does this have anything to do with Bell who's on the right side? Gross got beat too many times, and he's been good? So allowing shots to his qb and being blindsided is good? My goodness. And btw, Bell did pretty damn good today.

Gross has more false starts than holding penaties. 4-3. (And 1 of his holding penaties was phanthom.) And usually plays against the opponents best pass rusher. Yet he is trash? I do not think so.

I do think that Bell is improving. But to me, he would be better suited at RG. He is a mauler, not a technician. Draft Kalil for RT, move Bell inside, and we are golden.

But I have no idea for what I speak!? I just like to spew my opinion.

Bell is scary good. He may be good, but he scares me. If he does not scare you, you are not paying attention.

Bell forced protection to be rolled to his side, and with the Detroit interior being so good it left Gross on an island today against a very good pass rusher. It wasn't a good game for him but to put anything on him for this season is ridiculous.

Bell is one of the worst RTs this season, and he's been a problem all year long. He is okay in run blocking. It in pass protection he just can't keep up with anyone resembling something fast.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
