Creamsicle uniform will sink the Bucs on Sunday

The Creamsicles are back!

Tampa Bay will wear its throwback Creamsicle orange uniforms Sunday when the Panthers play the Bucs in Tampa, harking back to those glorious days when the Bucs once lost 26 games in a row and head coach John McKay, when asked about his team's execution, quipped that he was in favor of it.

It's actually part of a whole throwback theme. The loudspeakers will be blaring music from the 1970s and the Bucs will induct former tight end Jimmie Giles from their early days into their Ring of Honor.

I've always liked Tampa Bay’s Creamsicle uniforms myself – they are among the weirdest uniforms in sports history, joining the uniforms of the 1970s-era Pittsburgh Pirates (remember the caps?) and the 1980s-era Houston Astros. And being dressed like an ice-cream popsicle fits these Bucs, because Tampa Bay has again become one of the NFL season’s biggest disappointments.

After starting 4-2, Tampa Bay has lost five straight games. Head coach Raheem Morris was asked by reporters about his job security this week – that’s never a good sign. Only Indianapolis (11 games) and San Diego (six) are currently limping through longer losing streaks.

At least the Bucs have throw back uniforms. Maybe one day the Panthers will get new uniforms so they could actually have some too.

Panthers don't need throwback uniforms when the current ones look fine. With those creamsicle uniforms, no wonder they changed. Those are frankly embarrassing. Then again so were the Bucs for most of their franchise history.

Not much that is good can be said about the Creamsicle uniforms. Most people are glad they are gone and would not want to go back to them.

The consensus seems to be that wearing them once a year is okay. They do represent some pretty ugly times but they also bring back fond memories of days gone by. Each person has their own memory and it varies from person to person. An example would be something like, My dad took me to Buc games when I was a kid and the Bucs were wearing those jerseys.

    • Same, wish we could've kept him around a bit longer. TD didn't become TD until after the back to back to back season ending injuries. From 2012 on, he was AP, Pro Bowl, and WPMOTY award winner. I was hoping Shaq would follow in that route here and pass the baton to the next generation. But he only got one year with Trevin Wallace, so we'll see. Either way, happy he's back in the league, and home to where our castoffs go to rejuvenate their careers 😅
    • My biggest problem with receivers is we always want guys that are big possession guys who focus on what they do after they get the ball in their hands.  We never value quickness or route running at all.  For me I prefer quick shifty receivers and what they do before they get the ball in their hands.  Everyone keeps talking about all this diversity in the wr room and for once I actually agree with Steve Smith.  We've got a lot of possession guys that dont really scare the secondary over the top.  If you take away our injured 6th round pick,  Thielen probably beats any other receiver we have in a shuttle or cone drill and that is absolutely ridiculous at this stage of his career, and its not because hes quick lol.  He keeps drafting all these big guys and touting catch radius and contested catches when in  modern NFL defenses that doesn't really work anyways.  Youre not throwing 50 yard jump balls much anymore.   Constant nickel and 2 deep safeties have ended that.  You attack underneath and medium depth.
    • I like the confidence. Hopefully he's going to bring some swagger to the upcoming season. It will translate to the rest of the locker room.
