QB Rating for Week 13

The only problem I see with the Total QBR is this, only ESPN produces those numbers. I'm interested to see if another media outlet, like NFL Network, produces a Total QBR, if it would be similar.

I totally agree that it shows plays that matter versus plays that don't, but, ESPN can definitely be biased. Panthro bringing up that The Golden Calf of Bristol's QBR was higher than Rodgers' that game, shows that ESPN can definitely lean one way or the other.

That was only one game and if you can't even fathom how scoring the same amount of touchdowns in half the time is pretty impressive, the debate is over. What The Golden Calf of Bristol did in that game was special and clutch and all those other things.

I'm not upset over one game of it being arguably wrong or right. It tries to take into account things that matter, unless you go back and watch all of Aaron's throws, take note of the situation, the YAC (which they are 3rd in the NFL in), all you are doing is looking at it from a QB rating standpoint which is what this improves upon.

ARod is the clear season leader and that clearly reflects reality.

Whoa, calm down girl!

It's the 30th ranked defense in the NFL! LMAO!

Would that be the same Bucs team that beat that Falcon's ass in Week 3...or the Saints ass in Week 6?

I thought so.....now sit down, shut the fug up, and watch us beat your ass down on Sunday.

Like I said before, in the old system, 9 yards is 9 yards, in the new one, 9 yards on 3rd and 6 is better than 9 yards on 3rd and 15, which every fan knows. It also takes into account a lot of other things.

So a 1 yard pass to a RB that runs for 8 yards on a 3rd and 6 is better than a 9 yard pass to a WR on a 3rd and 10?

these threads are for the oblivious. its been apparent that cam has been a top 5 qb this year regardless of category you speak of (except wins). this "oh cam is so good" realization every week is getting old.

Cam is legit. And hes a panther. Realize it, love it, accept it. total qbr rating thread not necessary for persuading

Well first of all one would result in a first down and the second example would mean you're punting so yes. But why begin placing different, subjective, weighted values on something the quarterbacks themselves have little say over in the firs place? Most quarterbacks don't decide what plays to run.

Passer rating still has a better correlation to winning records than Total QB rating. So what's the point of using something that's worse than what we have already? Passer rating is a better measurement of what the quarterback is supposed to do, while Total QB rating measures overall production value to your team. That doesn't necessarily make you a better quarterback. It can actually at times reward bad quarterbacks who wait to long, can't complete their primary reads and opt for less efficient ways of moving the ball. Rushing after the pocket collapses. While the resulting play can be positive, there's no telling how much more it would have helped the team had they completed the pass they were supposed to in the first place.

    • It's crazy with how much winning was going on when we had a little cool off period that we're still just a couple games out of 6th. Moussa is getting better every week and Coby is getting comfortable. Would be nice to get to 6 but I think this team is a lot more stacked than the last couple play ins. I can't remember the exact rules but if you're 7th seed and win the first game I think you automatically move on and don't have to play the second game?
    • I think it was a thing for sure. Panthers weren’t too many people’s first choice. Or 5th choice.  2022 and 2023… coaches fired mid season. Consecutive years. You want any of that?  He has definitely overseen a rehab of how the Panthers are perceived. Because we are a place that is seen as up and coming. And just the little thing of he accommodated Theilen so graciously, that gets noticed. It all adds up. Dan is doing a lot of things right, probably most things.  Needs a good draft.
    • K, I think that is dumb, but you do you. I didn't find anything online that made him out to be a dislikable person. I am certain the Panthers would have cared so much if they lost your fandom if they hired Sean Payton. But bet you would have come crawling back if Sean lead us to a Super Bowl victory or Golden leads UNC to a champion ship. It is easy to say you are gonna leave a team if the hire someone you dislike when the chips are down. But people like you tend to come crawling back once the team finds success.
