Wow Paul had them ready to play tonight. We just literally beat the crap out of the islanders. Out shot them by 45 shots.... damn! Phili is just barely beating Florida... and the anouncer had the gull to say he wants to play carolina because we have been hot so long he thinks were going to trend downward in the first round. I hope we get them and sweep em!!! What a game... Go Canes!

While I don't agree with that announcer about wanting to play the Canes, I can at least understand the sentiment. A lot of times, the red hot teams do fizzle when the playoffs start. When we won the Stanley Cup, the Devils were the team that was on fire, as they had won something like 15 straight games. In the first game against them, we destroyed them and won the series 4-1.

I think the Canes are better than that though, and while they may not stay THIS hot, they can turn this into a great playoff run.

Some notes on yesterday's game. A lot of records were set...

- Eric Staal set a team record with his fourth hat trick in the season.

- Cam Ward set two team records with his 39th win and sixth shutout of the year.

- The 9-0 loss was the worst in Islander history.

- The 57-12 shot differential was the most in team history.

- The nine game winning streak tied a team record, which was set twice...by the Stanley Cup winning team from 05/06.

IF we tie the flyers in points, we should get the fourth seed b/c we would have more wins??

Am i correct on this?

No. Philly would still get it because of the head to head record against us. Man, this is gonna be interesting...my wife is a Flyers fan....haha.

What an asskicking. So much for that let-down game, this team is playing amazing right now. Such a treat to watch.

Tie Breakers

1. The fewer number of games played. (Only used during the season, as all teams will have played 82 games once the season is over.)

2. The greater number of games won.

3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs.

4. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.

    • What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
    • Wrong.  At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
    • I don’t know if people realize that Evan’s was one of the top TE prospects in college  before having some horrible injuries. I wanna say he had two major injuries in back to back seasons which limited his play and dropped his draft stock.
