On to the Texans....

The Texans were down 10 points (multiple scores) to the Bengals about halfway through the 4th quarter. The last 2 drives the Texans had (one for 65 and one for 80 yards respectively) both featured about 75% (first drive) and 90% (second drive) passing plays. He was also doing this without Andre Johnson, only using the likes of Jacoby Jones (not very good at catching balls) and Kevin Walters (posession guy) as his wideouts.

It's kind of not the biggest issue for you guys though, the combination of Arian Foster and Ben Tate along with our O-line should be much more concerning to you guys than TJ Yates.

Once more you misunderstand what I mean by "leading."

Not 17-7. Not 17-10.

23-6. 28-7.

Pretty sure leading a game winning drive is what it is if you were down 28-0 or 10-0. I'm not going to fault the guy because the Texans defense doesn't give him the opportunity to command an offense that is down 3 or 4 touchdowns.

Whaaaa??? And just how much time do you want to give TJ for this miraculous come back?

The guy is clutch...he's already shown that. How good is he? We really dont know yet. But if his last two games are any indication he could be the sleeper pick of that draft.

Agreed: Foster is very dangerous as a pass catcher out of the backfield. Tate is not a good pass catcher.

And their TEs (Owen Daniels and Joel Dreessen) will have big days Sunday.

On D: JJ Watt, Barwin, Cushing are having great years and are beasts. Our Oline better pay attention to their responsibilities and protect CAM and open holes for D-lo and Stew.

Note: local radio reporting that Wade will be out due to some surgery and someone else will do the playcalling.

I'm giving you real examples of scores we've had and blew this year. Difference is, is that TJ Yates isn't Matthew Stafford or Matt Ryan.

TJ vs Captain... OMFG! I look for the Texans to expose our lack of depth at LB by putting them in 1 on 1 coverage and using play action to look deep, hopefully we win but they have the better team.

This is exactly what will happen. I don't think we win, our defense is just too bad. Hopefully we can score some points and make it a game though.

That much I have faith in. We've seemed to divert our resources defensively to stopping the run and letting our Secondary hopefully hold up against the pass. If that gameplan pans out once more we give ourselves a shot.

Houston isn't as potent in the passing game as Atlanta, but they certainly aren't Tampa. We'll see what happens. Either way, like you said, I trust our offense, it's the defense that is the question mark.

People around these parts know ole TJ pretty well, remember where he went to school.

Tape tells all, the more tape, the more he will be shutdown, if not this week then further down the line.

Let's not put TJ in Canton just yet, just like Newton, Dalton, Ponder, don't belong in Canton.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
