Right off the top of my head is Space Systems Operations, it's in a fairly new careerfield under a a fairly new MAJCOM. You deal with DOD controlled satellites as far as tracking, maintenance, planning really cool plus you get the Star Trek looking badge if that interests you.

There is IM (information management) which is basically your office IT guy, computers all day long and it directly translates to a civilian job on the outside.

Any Comm related jobs, base infastructure type poo.

If you want to do aircraft maintenance there are two main careerfields Avionics Technician and Communication/Navigation Technician, every single airframe has one and if you get your rocks off by wanting to work on a B-2 or an F-22 it's there.

There are CE electrician jobs but that's straight construction style work.

If you're a total badass and mentally sharp TacP is a job that is command and control sprinkled with a little Chuck Norris.

Imagery Analysts work with Intel on satelite images for all kinds of spec ops type things.

I didn't know this would turn into a pissing contest as too who could help you the most but these are some jobs dealing with comm/electronics. Like these people said get IT IN WRITING. Have a guarenteed slot for a job prior to basic training. In your 5th week of bmt you go to a career advisor to review your job selection, sometimes they try to change your mind don't fugging do it stick with your contract.

There is no perfect job in any branch of the military. If you want a complex, challenging career you have to take it.

and before you try and lie again, it's always been 99

Yep and if you legality did score in the 90 percentile on the test, you can still fill like the poo. Those scores are really rare.

Meh, it's just a test. I scored a 93 and my GT is a 123...

After being in as long as I have been, those tests really dont mean much.

I bet people here don't even think I'm that smart. I post from my phone 98% of the time, don't use proper grammar, and constantly have typos because my iPhone thinks it's smart (it's not)

Scoring high on the test gives you a few advantages, such as getting ANY job u want, that doesn't require a Special School... Other than that I know some pretty sharp guys that scored badly, and even more that have scored in the 90's with ZERO fuggin common sense!

First of all, that's an unwarranted personal attack...

Secondly, I don't recall belittling you or your career field.

And lastly, SOF only uses your planes to get back and forth from the box...

So I HIGHLY doubt that it's "my type" of Army guys that need instructions on how to SLEEP on your plane.

And while we're on that subject, I have schooled manya' loadmasters on how to do their jobs (not saying u are one)

The AF doesn't even use a GT score. Along the breakdown for jobs in the AF that Reapuh was looking for his ASVAB scores are good. Like you stated all those jobs have a tech school that follows or even two anyways.

And you're right i'm not a loadmaster I actually work for a living as a crew chief.

Jet troop-work on aircraft engines, long hrs get dirty

At-speaks for itself

Bio-deals a lot with safety on base, chemical disposal, hearing safety near flightline

Loadmaster-basically fly around the world while getting paid to do little to no work

NDI-gold right here you could do 4 years in the AF and have tons of job opportunities...precision test equip, high value training for a rare job in the aircraft industry

Anything that transfers into civilian life is the way to go.

Air Traffic Control does not make nearly as much now as they used to, BTW. Their contract was recently changed up quite a bit by the Feds.

Yeah, that's how I tried to rank my list, but then again I'm not sure which jobs transfers to civilian. Here is my list, though. I'd be ecstatic to get any of the top 3.

to be honest, I expected to spend my career doing electronics and was hired out of the Navy to do that. But I really was not great at it, and found later that I was really good at computers so I made that my career.

I think that getting an easily transferable type of job is helpful, but my experience is that you will get hired based more on the fact you had a decent military career (progress through ranks, no black marks on your record, honorable discharge, etc) than anything else. My stepson was a Boatswains Mate, now he repairs and refurbishes boats, but it's his demeanor and professional attitude that gets him work - things that before he joined the Navy were fairly nonexistent in his character, at least when dealing with people.

Is the ASVAB the test where you had to connect the dots?

Its somewhat similar to the SAT's, except with fewer questions in each section and more of a focus on technical as opposed to academic knowledge.

Its been a while since I took it, but best I can remember, my score was upper 80's. Would have been higher, but I screwed up the Math part of it, where you had to answer a certain number of math questions in 2-3 minutes. I had the right answers, but skipped a spot on the answer sheet and had to redo a bunch of them. Didn't matter as I got the school I wanted anyway.
