DWill to lose the Dreads

It was the Row Williams rule, right? Wasn't he the guy who horesecollared TO and broke his leg?

I heard the inside/outside of the tackles part of the rule during the Atlanta game and tried to think of a reason why it might be that way...I kept thinking about how Roy used to grab it and ride the players down and that led me to think that it would be more of a gang type tackle inside of the tackles with more tacklers involved and might happen more often, thus making it penalized more often slowing the game down...if that makes sense.

Just an idea, not claiming it to be factual...

He's not "losing" his dreads, just braiding them until the end of the season. Dreads represent a variety of lifestyles and I would be surprised if he had them chopped off anytime in the near future.

was just coming in here to post that same thing after re-reading this thread. he's been working on those dreads for years, i wouldn't be cutting them off if i were him

you can lower your head and lead with your helmet the other way around. a RB in that situation isn't deemed defenseless.

Same idea with a receiver, as they make the catch they can drop their helmet to plow through the defender coming at them and if the defender makes helmet-to-helmet contact it's a penalty and a fine because the receiver was "defenseless". When you go up to catch that ball, 99% of the time you know what's coming at you, I just think the whole defenseless receiver thing is way too subjective.

DeAngelo has said on many occasions that he has no plans to cut his hair. He's paranoid about it, he was terrified in the Detroit game because he though he had lost a bunch of his dreads. He jogged over to the sideline and got behind everyone so he could check without having anyone give him crap for it, LOL

It was ol Roy boy as I recall and he used to do it a lot. I dont think its the gang tackle part so much as it is the angle which you come down in with respect to where the pressure is being applied on your joints from running just before you get nabbed. . .Idk, not sure.
