It's hard to envision us losing to Tampa next Saturday.

I try to keep a competitive respect for every team we play, whether they are considered superior or inferior to us-epsecially in a division game.

Tampa, however, seems to collapsing. Getting destroyed by a horribly bad Jacksonville team and now tonight's game, they look pretty bad.

Obviously I am not looking past tommorow's game, but I just wanted to contribute some healthy football discussion to the board before I hit the hay.

For the Tampa game, I would feel completely comfortable playing Tampa with essentially the exact same gameplan we played against them with last time, with Rivera going over the tape for some minor alterations. Now obviously Tampa has that same courtesy, but they just appear too talent deprived offensively to execute an efficient gameplan well enough.

I feel completely comfortable stacking the box against Freeman to shut down Blount. Freeman, for whatever reason, has been too scared to go down the field. Whether it's a mental regression on his part, or Tampa just does not have the offensive weapons to get open, I do not know. Either way, I feel perfectly fine putting 8 men in the box and telling Tampa to beat us deep. I feel comfortable risking giving up the occasional big play if it means shutting down their rushing attack-because honestly, the talent at their skill positions on O don't pose a huge threat to our Secondary. Gamble has the ability to eliminate any Receiver, and Godfrey has done a good job blanketing TE's all year.

So, as I said, I just don't see us losing to Tampa next week. Let's kill the cows tomorrow first, and have some nice filet Mignon for dinner on the flight home, but beyond that, it'd be nice to get back to sweeping Tampa, and hopefully getting the split with New Orleans.

In conclusion, here is a picture of our head coach I found whilst continuing on my journey through the internetz.

Yep. That sounds a bit more accurate.

In my defense... They were doing everything that we've been wanting them to do. If we go on to curb stomp them, as we should have, it would have been a different story. Unfortunately, it didn't work out, and I looked dumb again... That mistake made me a better poster. Just got to take my lumps and move on...

It took me like 5 minutes figuring out why we weren't playing the 25th..

I'd like to see some 3-4 looks from our D if we get a comfortable lead. It will give the D some experience in it and we can murder their O line like Dallas just did.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
