Cam's footwork.

I was watching last years national championship game again yesterday and the difference in both Newton's footwork and throwing motion are insane. He's keeping his left sholder down, his release has added so much zip to his passes and he doesn't get happy feet like lots of young quarterbacks in the pocket. Cam made a lot of paid analysts and "casual expert" analysts look like tards with his ability to learn so quickly. Newton still has a lot of room to grow and learn, which should scare the poop out of defensive coordinators for years to come. :)

lol and everybody wanted to watch him sit on the bench so we could see like marc bulger or some poo complete 47% of his passes

getting his reps in from the very start is only going to help him get better faster.

While I'm OK with admitting that I wasn't sold on the pick at first, once we committed I was totally fine with the all-in approach here. Couldn't agree more...a stop-gap QB would have set us back an additional year, especially considering what was actually available out there and what they have accomplished this year.

Talk about the throw on the run to Smith in the 4th

That was craazzyy

That throw was sick. He honestly had no business even attempting it, but just goes to show you that even when his feet aren't set he can still make incredible throws. A very Peyton-esque kind of pass.

You could also hear Shockey laughing his head off afterwards. I think he spent half the game yelling "THAT'S MY QUARTERBACK!" at the defense.

Cam really is a raw talent. He spent 1 year at Auburn and won a Championship and now 1 year in the "NFL" and he has already broken the leading QB Rushing TD record, and should beat out Peyton's rookie year passing numbers, with a whole lot less INT. thrown. He has surpassed my wildest expectations in what he was able to do with basically the same 2-14 team personnel as last year, minus all the injuries to the LB core and losing a WR named David Gettis to work with.

I hope we draft all Defense for the first 3 rds this draft at least, hopefully a top CB in the 1st, a DT or OLB in the 2nd, and we will be much much better next season. The carries of D. Willie and J. Stewy are extremely low compared to other top RBs in the league, which means they will be doing it longer. With the right GM we could hopefully have a playoff team next season.

...And we should have had at least 1 more win this year against Vikings and should have won for sure before the total collapse of the team against ATL.

Yeah, it was Shock. He did a little "hold my junk" gesture to the Texans bench, too.

On another note, I just rewatched that play a few more times, and Cam didn't have either foot set when he threw that ball. He was actually in mid-freaking-air when he released it.

I've tried throwing like that before and let's just say Cam must be Superman in order to pull that one off.

Wow...You just brought to light the next endless topic of discussion. If Cam does that throwing the ball in the air stuff and it gets int or something, I can see the endless ranting threads and over-the-top concerns over Cam leaving the ground while throwing his balls and how wrong it is. Seeing how many are so concerned over his "footwork issue" and everything; stemming from nothing more than the fact that he came from a spread offense in college. At least that's the excuse that is being used.:D

I would be fine never seeing him try something like that again.

When it works it's all gravy, but that normally results in INT's.

Everybody? Does that include you? Ive stated from before that draft that if we select him, he should be starting from Day 1.

    • I’ve turned from a staunch detractor to him now having my 100% support. 1. He turned the worst o line in the league in to a top 10 unit in 1 offseason. Incredible.  2. Contracts to Horn and Hubbard. Reward your ride or die homegrown talent. Neither contract was way out of line for market value.  3. All of the talent he has added are intelligent, high floor types who love competing.  4. He understands that an org lives and dies off of the draft. This was the very first draft that I can remember since… ever where the franchise didn’t make a boneheaded trade and/or waste a high pick on a project tweener. No. It was Tepper sitting by almost completely mum, watching Dan orchestrate Dan’s draft…. picking intelligent high floor dudes from big name schools who showed up to play every Saturday and loved competing. It just felt right.  5. He has shown no reservation in cutting bait on guys that he sees as not having what it takes. This is really big one. It’s what the good teams do. Without it, you get the ‘coach’s guys’. Complacency. Stagnation. All these dudes needs to watch their backs.  I see him building a young core who have displayed NFL level ability. For the first time in a really long time it feels like the captain of the ship actually knows what he is doing.
    • Jake Guentzel was a pretty elite  player and he fit us very well. And we’ve only had two offensive elite forwards under Rod. That’s Jake and Miko. Sample size is pretty small and I feel like your arguments biased. We are going to get an elite player or two In the off-season, we can be the judge of that this time next year.
    • Defense is overall bottom 5 without a doubt.  We literally do no have any depth on any position for the defense.  We are once again a couple of injuries away from being complete garbage again.   I assume next draft will be defense heavy.
