2011: Greatest Year for a Top Ten Pick?

At least 4 picks (Newton, Miller, A. Smith, T. Smith) are having years rookies just don't have, and can make a case for the pro bowl even if they don't make it. You can throw Peterson in that mix if we're talking about punt returning.

Of the remaining 6 (or 5), only Gabbert could said to have had a bad year. The two WR's picked could both end up with over 1000 yards.

This could end up the greatest top 10 ever, but it's too early for that. Can anybody remember or even thick of a top 10 that performed beret in their 1st season?

For certain postions it was great.2012 will be known for the year of the offensive tackle. At least 3 are better than the guy the Cowgirls picked at 10.

2012 would have been another killer year for qbs if Barkley would have come out.

It is really amazing to me the qbs of last year have performed as well as they have.

I don't know that it was considered weak but more weak at the positions you'd want to take with a high pick (QB, RDE, LT).

The "problem" we were faced with was the premium, surefire talent seemed to be at positions of lesser importance (CB, DT, WR) that you rarely see some one use the top pick for or a position (3-4 OLB) we don't use. Meanwhile, all the QB's came with huge supposed question marks.

Hindsight's great, but picking up a QB that only started 1 year in a major program running a simplified zone read offense was anything but a sure thing.

As a side note, a good deal of Cam's success came from having a coaching staff willing to use his talents. Under last year's coaches, I'm afraid we might still be debating his greatness.

    • So, based off the official depth chart, there are a few things I dont like on defense. Bobby Brown III as the backup, with Robinson starting over him,  and our smallest DL starting at NT. I dont like that neither of our 2nd rounder OLBs are starting, so I am hoping for heavy rotation there. Also, David Moore is our punt returner, WTF? Also, our primary backup RB as the KR when we have other capable players like Horn Jr and Trevor?  OFFENSE: WR: *Tetairoa McMillan* - Jalen Coker - *Jimmy Horn Jr.* TE: Tommy Tremble - #James Mitchell# LT: Ikem Ekwonu - Brady Christensen  LG: Damien Lewis - Chandler Zavala C - Austin Corbett - Cade Mays RG: Robert Hunt  RT: Taylor Moton - Yosh Nijman TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - *Mitchell Evans* WR: Xavier Legette - Adam Thielen - David Moore - #Brycen Tremayne# QB: Bryce Young - Andy Dalton RB: Chuba Hubbard - #Rico Dowdle# - *Trevor Etienne* DEFENSE: LE: A`Shawn Robinson - #Bobby Brown III#  NT: #Tershawn Wharton# - *Cam Jackson* RE: Derrick Brown - Jaden Crumedy LOLB: #Patrick Jones II# - *Nic Scourton* - Thomas Incoom LILB: Trevin Wallace - (Bam Martin-Scott)  RILB: #Christian Rozeboom# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: D.J. • A couple of these guys might take exception to that, but yea, I get what you’re saying.
