When I say build a team around I mean not win the next three games, but contend the next 5 seasons.

Gotta go Brees especially if it's 5 years. If it's longer than 10, you'd hope Cam can develop into that QB but it's not a guarantee he gets to that level. Got to go with the known over the unknown in this scenario.

Considering this year's performance, age alone dictates you choose Cam...no contest.

That is the big issue really. Lok at Peyton Manning, as he got older he started getting injured and had to have 3 neck surgeries and might not play again. At this point the reality is that Brees likely has 3 or 4 more years left before he starts to decline. Newton if he only plays to 32 years still has 10 years left to play. So who do you build around? THe guy who is likely to be here in 10 years.

I think you have to go Brees. He's only 32 so he should have at least 5 more years in him at a very high level. He's one of the most accurate passers the game has seen. Who knows if Cam will ever get to that level.

For a QB at 32 years old, durability issues grow and accuracy and ability decline over time. It's the beginning of a crossroads for a professional player. Some are able to maintain some effectiveness, but most age out and lose the competitive edge.

Cam is taller, stronger arm, a bigger threat.

I'm sure any saints fan would call me biased, but i'll take the bigger qb that has proven he can also play at a high level.
