Should we resign Jeremy Shockey?

I don't think hes that injury prone I mean yes he has missed about 3 games every season but he plays hard and Tight ends can last a long time look at Gonzo.

in the past 10 years he has only had one season where he missed more than 5 games and that was his second season. then he played 15 games the next three seasons then 14 games then he switched to NO where he only played 12 games then 13,13 and then played 15 here. I don't know if he sat out any of the last games of the season on years he played for a play off team. I must say not too bad for a physical TE that takes a lot of hard hits.

You can't really expect any TE to play as long as Gonzalez. He takes amazing care of his body. Not that Shockey abuses his body, but Tony goes above and beyond.

When I think of injury prone I think of guys who are constantly getting major injuries sidelining them for long periods. Shock has had some injuries and missed a few games but every player that gets tackled and takes chances gets injured. Between 2008(the first season D-Will was a starter) and last year D-Will played in 51 games. During the same time period Shockey played in 53 games (would be 54 but the Ain'ts rested starters before the play offs in 08). Nobody said D-Will was too injury prone and he actually has missed over half a season (something Shockey has never done).

Otah and Davis those guys are the definition of injury prone. Shockey adds too much value to this team as a fire starter, a play maker, a blocker, and a leader to not give him a two year with a third option deal and let him close out his career here.

absolutely. the dude was as solid as you would want for a TE, but where he is the most valuable is from his fire. we need more people like him on the team.

I completely agree with this, Shockey, Smitty, and Cam power the O, Beason powers the D..... we need more intense players on D :yesnod:

Shockey played better than olsen..definitely.re-sign him

As much as I was hyped about having Olsen, he seemed to drop all the crucial passes... maybe that's just me, but I felt Shockey was more "clutch" and made the tough catches, and the intensity he plays with is crazy, Olsen is like "Meh..."

Plus Olsen is a bit of a puss.

    • I hope not. 3rd-5th round QB's are historically awful. Most of the time that team is just drafting another QB in the first the following year. Look at the Saints, if they continue to suck this year they are just taking a QB. And if they do they just threw away a 2nd round pick that they just drafted. We did the same poo with Clausen, Greer, Pike, that guy we drafted a few years ago who is so irrelevant I forgot his name...  Just take a 1st round QB if Bryce isn't the answer and be prepared to live with it
    • This reminds me on Madden where you create an alternate uniform and the pre-recorded voice overs talk about how hideous your uniform looks. 🤣
    • There are people on this forum that just want to see a lot of passing yards....number go up. That's all it is, really. They are thirsting for a 350-400 yard game. The idea that Jameis Winston is going to come in and play like a star and lead us to wins is ludacris. He's the 3rd fuging string for a 2-5 team and has played horrible for years now. Sure, passing numbers will go up but you'll also get a lot of dumb plays, pick 6's, and incompletions en route to a frustrating bad offensive performance, just in a different way. I think these people are yearning for another Delhomme situation, and the odds of that happening are very very slim. It's way more likely Howell or Jameis comes in and looks like Jack Plummer or Andy Dalton did in the preseason. There just isn't that much good quarterbacking in this league right now. And if we draft another QB in the first round, there is a good chance they bust. It's not a guaranteed carrot. The reality is, as mediocre as Bryce has been, the risk of bringing someone else in in-season and releasing Bryce becuase you aren't happy with his current performance is staggeringly high. Don't want to re-up his contract and search for a solution in the offseason? Sure, I'm on board. Bryce hasn't been good enough to warrant a second contract. But It is very. very unlikely that bringing someone else in midseason is going to give this team more wins.
