Panthers uniforms won't change in 2012

Given that about 80% of the players on the team wear the jersey with "no sleeves" the shoulder stripes on our jersey really don't make any sense.

The jersey is not being worn the way it was intended to be worn by 80% of the guys on the team, so it seems like it's time for a change to a jersey that looks the same whether or not the guys choose to have sleeves.

The Nike jerseys in general are cut with this "no sleeves" look, so I'm sure they are begging the Panthers to let them come up with another solution.

I'm ok with the home and alternate uniforms - I just cannot stand the awful all white road uniforms. I feel like there is no consistency or brand identity. At worst, they need to darken the silver pants a bit and use them with the road/white jerseys and then switch the official home uniform to the blue/silver. I feel like we worse the solid whites every game last year. You want your team to be recognizable - not bland at home. The only color home fans should see is black or blue.

JR is traditional but it seems. Nike is forcing his hand.We are def due some new Jerseys.

See that's just the thing, they cannot force his hand. It's his decision and his only.

I'm hearing 2 things:

1) There will be no uniform change but the Blue will become the home uniform and the Black will be the alternate uniform only worn 2 times per year. The away white on white will no longer be white/white but white tops, silver pants. The home blues will be worn with different pants combinations including black pants. That would also allow for black pants with black jersey when the alternate is worn.

2) I am also hearing JR is telling Nike it's his team, doesn't care what changes they suggest that the logo is the only change going to be made.

Richardson tells Panther fan that helmets will change, uniforms won't

Panther owner Jerry Richardson has long been known to pick up the phone and call a random fan or three that has either written him a letter or written into the "feedback" section of the Panthers.com website.

The Panthers owner apparently did that late last week with a fan named Mike (who didn't want his last name used) from Winston-Salem after Mike wrote to the Panthers website that he really wanted the Panthers to change their uniforms since the team already has altered its logo for the first time since its inception. Mike is a fan of the "Scott Says" blog and had read this post about the uniform situation, which prompted his letter.

Mike says Richardson told him, however, that the owner was a traditionalist and that the uniforms wouldn't be changing in Richardson's lifetime, as Mike wrote to me in an email and reiterated in a later phone conversation we had.

However, this is interesting. Mike said Richardson also told him that the Panthers' helmet would change in 2012 but that he wasn't going to go into specifics about that.

As Mike said: "He stated we will see some changes in the helmet but wouldn't go into detail."

Now, the Panthers' helmet must change some -- the new logo dictates that. But will the color change? Will anything else change besides the logo?

That's the latest -- and maybe the only real remaining -- question about what the Panthers will wear in 2012.

Mike, meanwhile, still wishes the uniforms would change, although he now recognizes that is a lost cause (all those Panther uniform prototypes on the Internet, incidentally, are fake). But he's a huge Panther fan and loved talking to Richardson. Mike said that Richardson's phone call "made my day, my week, my month and my year."

Okay. Blue tops with black pants look awesome and would be a great solution to the home uniform(waa waa it's too hot for black problem).

White on white needs to stay white on white. They look badass it's just that they are worn too often.

Black jersey and black pants needs to happen, period.

Blue tops and black pants? That's ghey. Reminds me of the fine young male jaguars. No thanks.

Black on black? What are we, every other XFL team?

Someone in another thread photoshopped the blue uniforms with black pants and they look really cool. If you saw it and still didn't like it then you are teh ghey.

Black jersey's with black pants are what everyone wants. They would actually most resemble panthers. If you really think they would suck then you have no style or swag.

    • Tools. If I hear that term used one more time I'm going to lose my damn mind.  "Tools" are meaningless if they cannot use them already. Stop looking for "tools" and find productive football players. Stop looking for combine freaks and look for guys that have produced at a high level already. Tools my ass.
