Panthers Free Agents 2012

He will receive an increased role, if he had 0 catches; he will obviously have an increased role unless he somehow manages to get -1 catches.

But in all seriousness, his role will increase by simply being on the field at the wide out position not just as a kick returner.

And what says he will get on the field at WR? He may but to use that logic to say Legs isn't needed makes no sense

He isn't needed, based on how many times the ball was thrown his way and how many times he caught the pass thrown to him, ESPN calculated him as the worst receiver in the NFC South.

That is pretty much the definition of not needed.

Na Na brought more than just pass catching to the offense. Once the season started no one was going to replace him. There just is not enough opportunities to subplant a starter once the season starts.

What will be interesting IF they bring him back is where he will fit on the depth chart this year? Because with a full offseason there will be plenty of opportunities to earn playing time for anyone willing to take it.

IMO, there are three WR spots open. If you want one of those spots, you had better have value other than just WR. Which would mean to me, that returners will come from this group. Because I see us trying anything and everything to find a decent returner. And our last two WRs would be easiest to loose to injury than other positions. Whether those players are currently on the roster I have no clue. I just have a feeling that those last three spots are going to be an interesting battle. I hope we find our next Smitty to be honest. And he sure as heck ain't on the roster at this point.

Short story long. IF Gettis takes one of the top three spots. It really will not matter if Na Na is back or not. Cuz there ain't a lot of playing time to be had from the bottom three. And that really could give us a triple threat to go with our double trouble.

My giddy wants Gettis at full speed. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LaFell overtook L.A. on the depth chart at the end of last year and like you said if Gettis jumps L.A. on the depth chart or if the coaches already think that Gettis can overtake L.A. on the depth chart, then he will most likely not be back.

That's the question? Do the Panthers feel Gettis is the answer? If they let Na Na go, it would show their confidence in Gettis. So I am all for showing Gettis some love.

My biggest area of interest is those last three WR spots. If we are going to improve our return game, I would think it would come from these three roster spots. So I am interested to see how this works out. I would love for us to find our next Smitty out of this group. A returner we could groom.

Sounds good to my giddy. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Completely different than saying

Naanee had a decent run here (I guess you could say), but his service are no longer needed with Brandon LaFell's sudden emergence, David Gettis's return from injury, and Kealoha Pilares increased role.

Naane has no explosiveness whatsoever. To be his size, you'd think he'd be a beast, but a bust is more of an appropriate description. Naane is a journeyman back-up that was brought here in a pinch and is in no way a long term answer for anything (except maybe to warm the bench).

How so? The first time I tried to show some love for L.A. but you didn't understand, so I clarified it for you.

I wasn't trying to beat around the bush, I personally believe that their are better options than L.A. as the number three wide receiver; whether that be David Gettis, Kealoha Pilares, Armanti Edwards, a wide receiver we draft, or a wide receiver we acquire in free agency.

First you use Pilares as a reason Legs isn't needed when Pilares has done nothing to suggest that is true. If Smith, Lafell, or Gettis get hurt next season the coaches would know exactly what they were getting from Legs vs. Pilares who could turn out worse.

Saying he isn't needed because we have two WRs we can count on, one returning from injury, and one who didn't see the field last season makes no sense IMO. Saying he isn't needed because he sucked (which you said the second time) makes sense

Strange question about the Franchise Tag. How would it apply to Dan Conner if we franchised him and asked for a 3rd round draft choice instead of letting him walk for free, is that even allowed, is it even possible, or am I just having an episode of delusions of grandure?
