Favorite Actors?

Jackofalltrades

Just got done watching the latest episode of House of Lies and it got me thinking, who are your favorite actors? I doubt I'd watch this series if it wasn't for Don Cheadle, who I think is brilliant.

This weekend I went and saw Safehouse and while it was as badass as advertised, I don't know who else could have played Tobin Frost as well as Denzel.

Who are your favorite actors, people you make you want to see a movie just because they're in it?

Some of mine are:

Denzel

Will Smith

Don Cheadle

Gene Hackman

Tom Hanks

Matt Damon is getting there

That's all I can think of right now.

Whatcha got?

Ferrell at one point was my favorite.....now.....if he is in a movie, I pretty much know it is a rental at best. The days of Old School and Achorman are over.

I can understand that but this movie seems like it has to be good....or at least I hope so.

UPDATED: Actors Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis star as North Carolina politicians in a new movie titled "Dog Fight" that will begin production soon.

As reported by the Greensboro News & Record -- which will be featured in the film -- Ferrell describes the movie this way: "It’s basically the story of a small time congressional district in North Carolina, in the south, and I’m the incumbent candidate who’s about to run unopposed for my fifth term.

"We’re politically hungry, and I’m cruising along until I leave what I think is a message on my mistress’ voicemail but it’s really just a random family and it blows up in my face. I’m seen as vulnerable for the first time and the opposition decides to run a candidate against me and that’s Zach’s character.

"But you know, the movie is just a platform for us to illustrate how insane our political process has become. The crazy ad campaigns that exist now and the manipulations. We’re going to make it pretty farcical but not really that far from the truth."

    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
