I just changed my egr valve, map sensor, carbon canister, and pulled apart my intake manifold to clean the egr ports just to get it to pass the other week.. turns out it was much easier than I expected.

had a mechanic check all the codes.. they wanted $800+ for what only cost me ~$280 in parts..

I changed my egr valve and replaced my stock air intake with a short ram intake. Next thing you know, every single one of my emissions sensors stopped working.

must of had something to do with the short ram intake.. egr valve is pretty straight forward.

what did you have to do to fix it?

I didn't change to custom parts, but I'm not real familiar with anything I haven't sat down and figured out on my own.. (which is very limited..)

How can they fail it? I believe I would have caused a scene.

Technically they put it under the "Steering" category, which was BS and they knew it.

Good news was it would have cost me $100 to do it myself, and they did it for $170. Plus it really did need to be replaced, but still.
