This guy looked great today. It appeared he could be used in coverage as a cb if needed.Where is he expected to be drafted?

Personally, I love him and think we need a QB in the secondary. A vocal leader, a hitter who has the jets to cover. Martin is lost. Wonder if Martin can play CB? 2 birds, one stone.

I don't think we go S in the second though. I bet we find a tackling, slowish CB and convert him. I am guessing a small school kid who has size and ran a 4.65 as a CB. THe Hurney way.

Yeah, because converting CBs to S has worked out so well for us in the past. Godfrey is still struggling to make the transition and Martin has utterly failed.

Both the Fox staff and the Rivera staff seem to love Godfrey, so obviously I'm the one missing something, but he's still out of position A LOT.

Acually Deon Sanders made the comment today that based on his drills he could not tell if he was a cb or safety.

This. Converting a CB to a safety isn't so simple. There's a lot more reads for a safety. If it was so simple, lots of great CBs would convert to safety as they lost a step, but in actuality, few do.

Never said it was simple. Said it is the Hurney way. Godfrey was a CB. I tthink Pugh played CB in college. I even think Martin did for a few games. A nickel CB has similar reads. However, edge CBs in man do not have shoulders squared to the LOS much like a safety-I get it.

I said we need a QB in the secondary, a true Free Safety who can lead. This guy seems to be capable.

I heard that. I think he meant that he would have no troubles in coverage, but I may have missed that point. I like the kid, but Mayock gets high on some players and blows theim up a bit. I doubt late first round. I see him on the board wihen we pick at 40. I would not be disappointed.

Thats what I was thinking plus he will make an imediate impact.

Like Harrison Smith a lot. Am hoping he is there in the second for us. Guy is a big physical inside the box LB/Safety hybrid who can cover better than folks think. I worry that the safety class is so shallow that someone is gonna grab him in the first.

He really impressed me today. His 40 was ok. The drills are where he impressed me most. His hips were so fluid and able to use his hips to turn get down field and find the ball. Really like him.

Idk what the hell I would do if I was hurney. There's so many options at the second. But so far I'm hoping we draft Harrison.

Another guy that I was high on before that impressed me further. So much so that I really want him with our first round pick. And that's Dre K. I just really like him. Matched up with Harrison smith could make a nice tandem in the secondary for years to come.

But back to Harrison. I Really like this guy

    • I see they blamed Slavin for the goal like I did.
    • See this is the problem, you say "can't get off the line quick" and "can't separate quick" but in reality it's "he can get off the line better and create more separation" which are two completely different things. If he couldn't get off the line or separate, he wouldn't have put up the numbers he did and end up a Top 10 pick. But he can get better, and maybe more accurately, consistent with them both, and that will take his game to the next level.  These are things that are also much easier to improve once you get to the NFL than things like being a poor route runner or having bad hands, two of his strengths. Thinking he can't get open in the short passing game also shows you haven't watched enough tape on him, as he was used in that role so much in college with little issue getting open and making plays. And him not using his physicality as much isn't even something that hurts his game because he's so much more agile than a player of his size should be, which he used to his advantage.  Instead of throwing passes where he'd go up and box out a player like a TE or Mike Evans does, they use his athleticism and put the ball in places that only he can get to it, and he usually does (and yes, he'll still be able to do that against NFL DB's with his catch radius). But now that he's in the NFL, I'd like to see him get stronger and add that to his game because it also will help him take his game to another level. As I've said before, if he doesn't improve on those things at all, I think he's a Top 25 WR in this league, he's already that good.  But I think he'll improve on those things and be a perennial Top 10 WR and in his prime is considered and perform like Top 5 guy in some years. My expectations for him this year at 800 yards and 8 TDs (although I do think he'll get to 10 TDs) with a real chance at getting to 1,000.  But those expectations are because I think Thielen will lead the team in yards with close to 1k and XL/Coker each end up in the 500-600 range themselves, just too many mouths to feed this year for a rookie to dominate yardage, especially if we're running the ball well again. But if Thielen can't stay healthy or puts up sub 750 yards, then yea, my expectations for T-Mac likely shift to getting to 1k as a rookie.
    • Svech only 1 goal behind the guy they've pretty much already given the Conn Smythe to...
