The Braves

man that's a lot of money. I'm excited about what he can bring to the braves though. Just has to get that average up and strikeouts down. I'm hearing the Braves are going to try and target Dexter Fowler, Alex Gordon, Denard Span or Shane Victorino now. I'd be happy with any of those

As much as I hate Victorino, I'd love to have him in left field.

Another name being thrown around is Cody Ross in LF, moving Prado to 3rd. Looks like Swisher will cost too much.

I'd love to have Justin too, but Arizona would be asking for Simmons and two pitchers. Still good to see Liberty Media spending money and not just sitting on what's cleared off the books.

I know Wren would like to move Uggla, but that contract looks horrible right now.

Yea, the best we can hope for in the Uggla situation is that he can atleast get back to how he was early in his career with the Marlins. Not holding my breath on that, though.

I'd be happy with Cody, and your right, it's good to see the organization spending some money. I really really like the acquisition of BJ. I just want him to get that average up a bit, and cut down on the strikeouts.

Could the Braves get Ichiro?

I say Wren better jump on that right now. I don't care that he is 39. He is the perfect lead off hitter that we need. He is very productive. He never strikes out and gets on base all the time. And he can still steal bases with ease. Just imagine him getting on with Prado hitting right behind him and then all that power in the middle of the line up. Would be crazy good. Go get him Wren.

Well it looks like the snakes are back to talking again and BJ might not be the only Upton in Atlanta this year. Olney is reporting the Braves have made an offer to the Dbacks for Justin Upton that does NOT include Simmons. Arizona is looking to make a move by Friday.

Both Uptons, Prado, Heyward, Freeman, Simmons, McCann and Uggla...that will make a lineup with not too many holes.

    • Seven North Carolina players have entered the transfer portal or announced their intentions to enter so far today: Derek Dixon (6.5 PPG) Jonathan Powell (4.8 PPG) Kyan Evans (4.0 PPG) Zayden High (3.4 PPG) Isaiah Denis (1.9 PPG) Jaydon Young (1.8 PPG) James Brown (1.2 PPG)
    • As long as we have DB, odd man fronts are the way to go for us. We want to line DB up between the guard and tackle (4i-tech) because of how quick he is off the snap and his punch on the guard off the snap. If anyone is wondering why he pretty much has to be doubled (or combo blocked) just about every snap, its because he is lined up in that spot in our odd man front. If we change to an even front, it becomes a lot harder to have DB play the 4i-tech.  Not sure if I would say Evero likes smaller NTs - I wouldn't call Bobby Brown a small NT by any sense. I think we run a 1-tech NT, so they are usually getting double teamed (or combo blocked) by concept alone. I actually think Bobby Brown did a pretty good job of eating blocks and being positionally sound on most runs at him (not his fault we were rocking ass LBs last year + Wharton being god awful). The bigger problem came on the toss plays/outside runs where DB wasn't able to blow it up in the backfield (i.e., the Bills game). Lloyd should help with the run D and getting a rangy LB in the draft will definitely help. There are also some good 1-tech DTs (and 0-techs) that can be instant day 1 starters for us in the draft.
    • Thanks for bringing receipts. I appreciate the facts, but they are a stark contrast to what we see on the ice, but maybe, as I've said before, his "aw sh!t" moments just seem to weigh heavier than his "attaboy" moments.
