Only noobs care. Its off season and zod allows all football talk in the main forum during that time.

Exactly, It's not like the title is misleading. Don't like it...don't open the thread. Don't like it...don't post in the thread.

Seems logical, in priciple. Impractical in practice.

The Alpha wannabees cannot pass up any opportunity to throw their opinion around. Most times it is amusing, and the world needs more humor. Othertimes, it can leave a little to be desired. But is that not what the interwebs is all about?

As a die-hard fan, I welcome any/all news. The side battles just make the visits more entertaining.

I get the "Redskins are a mess with a coach not interested in a player/manager and an douchebag owner" angle.

I don't get the "be nice to Eli" angle.

I would love to be in the same division as my brother. Who is more fun to beat than your brother. As if feelings should matter in this bidness.

One thing that Marshall Faulk said on NFLN yesterday that I hadn't ever really thought about and it actually shed a lot of light on Eli's situation when he was drafted...

Marshall said you can go ahead and rule out any and all NFC teams because Peyton doesn't want to do anything to deprive Eli of the opportunity to get to the Superbowl. He said they look at it like the Harbaughs... They don't want to do anything to impede the other from getting there... Now, once they get there, it's a great time for the family because someone is going to win it, and they're happy with that.

He said this was the main reason Eli refused to go to San Diego and asked them not to pick him. Not because he thought NY was any better of a football organizaiton or city, but because Archie didn't want them having to compete against each other in the same conference and possibly stop one another from reaching the Super Bowl.

Wow...It's so cool to see how some football family actually get to do as they please in the NFL

The new one is Andrew Luck. Too bad the other hard working players whose fathers don't have some kind of "in" with the media folks have to bust their behinds and take what they get.

As I've always said, the NFL seems to reflect our society.

Love Peyton and especially Eli, but the inside the NFL connection cannot be overlooked for how they can do as they please and get it. The same thing is going to be with Luck.

Andrew Luck isn't entitled because Oliver played QB in the NFL, and Eli wasn't entitled because of Peyton and Archie. They're just damn good QB's. Granted Andrew has some proving to do, but he's definitely got some serious ability and has obviously worked his ass off. You're giving the media buzz WAY too much credit.

I know one NFC team Peyton would have no problems going to. If only the Saints would release that greedy Brees!:D

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
