Tannehill a top 10 pick?

NFP has him as the #16 rated player.

This is significant because Cleveland, Jacksonville (I doubt they reach for another rookie QB) and Miami pick before us. Both have adequate veterans who could play until the raw QB develops. A player could drop to #9 if he can get into the top 10.

Secondly, a team like Seattle, KC, or even DENVER (If they sign Manning and trade The Golden Calf of Bristol, this would be VERY smart, considering Tannehill is 2 years away--think Aaron Rogers) might trade with us. A team would want to leapfrog the mass of teams needing a QB that follow us in the draft.

I think it serves the Panthers well if Tannehill's stock continues to rise.

Think Miami

I think the Browns are going to make a big play for Flynn. Miami will only have to worry about Seattle moving to 7 and cutting them out. No need for the Panthers to be involved. Just my opinion. When you think trade down, think Buffalo.

If Miami were to pass on him, then Seattle should not have any problem with him dropping in their lap.

Am the only one who thinks this guys is overrated?

I think he is not a first round pick, but everyone is singing his praises--say in 2 years he is a franchise QB. I still do not see top 10. Most of those teams have immediate needs.

Stirs, I see Flynn in Miami due to his relationship with Philbin. Cleveland may wait until the second round and take Weeden. If Miami misses Manning and Flynn, they are the prime for Tannehill

If somehow Trent Richardson and Tannehill go before us, we are getting a player to drop to us. I also see a player like Floyd (WR) possibly sneaking into the fold. Reiff is another who could go to the Rams at #6. Probably not Claiborne, but a player like Coples could fall to us.

QB driven league so they generally go higher than they are rated. Look at last years draft in first round. Ponder, Gabbert, etc.

QB's go higher than they ought, and RB's go much lower than they ought

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
