Delhomme has new deal

This is the first time in a long time that the Panthers organization has done something that actually made me somewhat angry. This is just ridiculous. I know we need the cap room, but NO ONE else would pay him that kind of money. Geez. This really is a joke.

(Then again, someone gave Keary F*ckbert $7 mil)

First of all, this is not rewarding Delhomme for one bad playoff game - anyone who thinks that is a moron.

The guy is a proven winner in this league and this is a cap move... 42.5 for 5 years with 20 guaranteed takes his cap hit down from 11 to roughly 5 if I understand how these things work.

This means we just found an extra 6 million in cap space today... I don't think we would make this kind of move unless we were planning on either a) signing a first round pick or B) pursuing some sort of FA signing or trade.

    • well i could go on & on but i will just highlight it by saying big difference trust me from the SEC & NFL.it's honestly like comparing apples & oranges especially when you are talking about a  LT. in the NFL you are going up against the most athletic freaks of nature the world has to offer . .the NFL also has much more exotic & complicated defensive schemes than what they are used to seeing at Georgis &  finally but most importantly you have to learn how to master complex bio mechanics where the body kick steps instantly as a reaction to these world class athletes rush without really making a conscious effort it's more of a learned muscle memory  & it can take thousands upon thousands of reps to master rproper technique for a LT in the NFL especially if you are still very raw like Monroe Freeling is    ...just saying
    • All that being the case or maybe being the case, we do not know Wharton’s timetable n the first place. They are being coy about it. Or maybe not. They say week to week the board says he is terminal lol and must be replaced. Who knows? It may or may not warrant a fairly drastic solution.  Walker is a bargain and we are not well stocked at OL despite recent investments. Freeling has yet to have a single padded practice. Too much speculation driving this plan IMO.
    • I would really love to know who’s actually making these moves because it’s weirdly vague who’s doing the hiring and firing.
