Will Leave The Hurneywagon If We Don't Make An Effort To Improve The Team This FA.

We made a fairly big splash last year. A big FA splash doesn't determine the outcome of our season.

ie Eagles 2011, Panthers 2011

I wouldn't call Olsen, Shockey, Edwards a big splash.

the rest was keeping an existing roster intact.

Rivera doesn't have anything to do with contract negotiations. We overpaid horribly to keep our core. You are rght about Hurney drafting with the coaches--RR picked Cam, not Hurney. Hurney picked Clausen and Armanti.

We retained great core players. The dollar amounts spent is really irrelevant, because we weren't targeting anyone else with that money, and we don't have the constant money squabbling headaches other teams go through because we pay our players (and then creatively restructure when necessary.)

People here get bitchy about the cap amounts and dollars and then are mystified when their yearly prognostications of doom and cap hell fail to materialize. It's as if they have no clue how the NFL actually operates. . .

OP is completely discounting the youth on last year's team as if our own players cannot improve from last season. The Panthers having a full off-season with OTA's is enough to think we will have more time to gel before the season starts. As much as I would like for us to go out and get Vince Jackson or another top tier FA, I agree with the notion that (when healthy) we have a good competitive core and just need to compliment them with a few solid starters and not necessarily big name players.

Cam Newton with a full season under his belt learning Chud's system should be enough motivation to keep you on the "Hurneywagon." Need I remind you that Hurney hired both of these guys last season.

You're acting as if it would be a good idea to pin our season on the likes of Sione Fua and Captain Munnerlyn.

Nobody has suggested signing Vincent Jackson in this thread.

Cam Newton was an exception to the rule and pretending as if every rookie will make his impact is just delusional.

Every team has glaring holes. The Giants won the Super Bowl with a secondary that was about as bad as ours, and their linebackers were only marginally better (they had an all-world D-line, of course.)

Spending tons of cap in a hope to cover up our deficiencies on paper is exactly why the Eagles spent a huge amount of cash on All-Pro corners and ended up with an even worse defense.

I'm not against adding free agents that can help, but I am against going and getting people just because we think we have to. That's what the draft, experience, coaching and trades are for.

You said it yourself. The Giants have the best DL in football. We don't, and I assume you don't believe we will.

The Eagles threw a bunch of players from various systems and expected it to work in a shortened offseason with little practice time.

Not only am I not asking the team to do that, the Eagles will have one of the best Secondaries in football this year.

We aren't good enough to stand pat while other teams get better.

As long a JR has Hurney is on Hurney's bandwagon don't guess he much cares about the rest of us. Not a slurrr at him at all .

JR positioned this team to be where it is and I don't think he gonna leave any stone unturned to go to The Super Bowl. When you are his age the only year that counts is this one. If he can pull the trigger I think he will.

I don't think people really live their life this way.
