Playoff loss leaves Delhomme motivated for 2009

I hope he goes out and has an amazing season just so everyone can STFU about him being a bad qb. If he goes out and bombs, we have two backup QB's for a reason and next years class should be special at QB.

Everyone hopes he goes out and has an amazing season, but if he doesn't does that mean everyone can STFU about him being a good QB?

No, we'll blame DeAngelo Williams. Used to happen to Foster back in the day. MAYBE the OLine. Never Jake.

Good Jake. I hope that last game motivates the heck out of you. Please review the game films to see if you were telegraphing your passes! That would be a good start. But I like what I'm hearing. I hope you have the biggest chip on your shoulder EVER. I hope that monkey on your back drives you insane, to the point where the only thing that will remove it is a Super Bowl victory! You took the team there before, do you have it in you to do it again? I think this year is your last great chance to do so! Make us proud..

Say what you will about him but his being motivated isn't an issue, let alone not being motivated until a horrible loss.

Depends on your view point.

He obviously isn't motivated enough to throw the ball out of bounds on a broken play or when no one's open.

Is he lazy? no, but he obviously hasn't improved on his weaknesses since he arrived here.

No motivation to get better, because he doesn't have to, hes the guy no matter what.

At least, maybe, until now.

If he goes out and performs poorly, then give him the boot, although that would painful cap wise with this extension.

Well there is no cap anyway, until further notice, but yes that would suck.

It's also a reason why people didn't like how much he got.

I got a question for knowledgeable Jake followers.

I know he doesn't check down and I know he misses the TE's. But has Jake shown the ability to read defenses before? I know he throws behind WR's but does anyone know exactly what his issue is? I don't expect him to pick apart defenses like Peyton Manning or anything but what specific flaws do you see in his decision making and reads? Besides laser lock on Smith.

    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
    • I said this ALL last season and will say it again this year. Our record means diddly squat this year, I don't care if we have 0 wins or 17 wins, I only care about one thing and one thing only. Bryce proves without a shadow of a doubt that he IS or ISN'T our long term solution at QB. It's the only thing that matters for the same reason it sucks that this is the same thing as last year.  This needs to be determined, and if they can't determine it, then it's still telling the team the answer, just not the one they want to hear. As right now we're in the ultimate QB purgatory, a position that dooms franchises for years.  Just look at a team like the Cardinals, who extended a better QB and it still screwed them over and haven't had a contending team in a long time. People get too caught up on wins and losses when evaluating players, particularly QBs.  When people look at the final record and use that as a reason to want to extend a QB or not is just a fools errand.  If we had lost 2-3 more games last year because we didn't make a last second FG, I genuinely wonder if we would have just moved on from Bryce this offseason (like we should have been doing anyways IMHO).
