Duke Robinson OG OU

has anyone figured out why he fell so far? To go from the highest rated OG to the 5th round is worrying.

Are his off the field problems/motivation issues that bad?

one reason is because he is a true guard...and people said he could not make the switch to OT...so he fell..

Plus, not every team values a run blocking mauler who is lacking a little bit as a pass blocker like the Panthers do...especially in the earlier rounds where they expect him to start. The Panthers know they can take a little time to develop Robinson though, since they have their starters in place.

there was no reason he should have slid past the 2nd this year.

there is something we don't know. maybe he's like that offensive tackle a few years back who slid five rounds because on the character test, when it asked "have you ever hurt small animals for fun?" he filled in the bubble under "no comment."

I got excited for a second. I thought you were about to make a positive post.

As Herman fell right along with him, I think it had more to do with lateral quickness than anything.

That I think is the major reason. Almost every report I have read has him listed as 'not suitable for most teams' simply because he is ONLY suited to being a road grader.

Despite this though, he is unanimously the top guard in the draft. As Fiz mentions, unless there is something we do not know about, or his last game (poor performance) was too significant.

I like to think we would not take a chance on someone who has 'hidden' attributes to this downfall. It does not sit well with this FO.

No one seems to have a consistent reason, but people are concerned he is dumb and have no motivation for the game.

who thinks he starts this season

barring injury he won't. the coaching staff is, rightfully so, pumped about having the same 5 starters on the line. continuity is not something to overlook. he will get plenty of time as we have a problem keeping the oline healthy, though.

i really think the coaching staff and front office should get some credit for rebuilding the offensive line depth with second and third round talent they found in the fifth and undrafted.

that's pretty damn heady. im still not sure how they pulled off cadogan, but the fact they gave him a three year contract should tell you all you need to know.

Article on the signing of Cadogan: http://www.reflector.com/news/state/panthers-ink-22-including-penn-states-cadogan-573717.html

Predicted by many to go in the middle rounds, Cadogan (6-foot-5, 309 pounds) went undrafted last weekend, leading to a bidding war. The Panthers went the unusual route of giving Cadogan a three-year contract.

"We fielded offers from approximately 10 different teams on Gerald but determined that the Panthers presented the best opportunity," agent Scott Smith said.

Smith indicated Cadogan was told he'd begin as left tackle Jordan Gross' backup.

He's also released 2 albums :o

His swimming career, though, does appear to be over. Cadogan laughs and pokes fun at himself -- high school teammates playfully called him, "Shamu."

"For the record I did not wear a Speedo," he said, cracking up. "I wore Jammers."

His brother described his swimming, "like a bear going upstream."

lmao XD

Cadogan has the potential to be better than Omiyale was.

whatever level of talent he has, his agent was right in what he said that the Panthers presented the best opportunity. Somebody's ALWAYS getting hurt on this offensive line, and I can think of probably only a handful of games out of the entire season the big 5 -Gross, Wharton, Kalil, Vincent, and Otah all started.

--line depth saved our ass last year.
