Could Trading J Stewart Play Into Our Draft Plans?

I may be wrong but didn't Hurney say that he wanted to work a long term deal with Stewart? I believe RR would like to keep the best RB on the team also.

The same Hurney that said we have not spoken to F Cox.It may not happen but if someone will give us a 2nd or take our 2nd and we trade up for a first we will probably take it. I dont like it ....I would have rather let Dwill walk but doubt we can have 3 starting backs.Calling Tolbert a fb is crap. This is not something I dreamed up.Look at the number of guys they are looking at that will go middle to late middle in the 1st round.

People forget that we have this great stable of backs that has been unable to consistently run the ball the past two years. Online hasn't helped but you would think all these elite backs would have been more productive. I am so over the RB position. I'll trade for stud WRs, CBs, DE, and OLine.

Don't believe calling Tolbert a FB is crap at all. A FB in the air coryell isn't the same as a traditional FB. He has to be able to catch, run and block. Have you ever noticed the guys the Chargers have used at FB. Tolbert fits our systems perfectly.

Your missing everyone's point. It doesn't matter what title you give to Tolbert bc the reality is he is another person competing for touches. He didn't come here to be the 3rd option in our backfield in a pass first system and league.

Thats is my point he is not a traditional FB.He may be an Air coyell fb but not a fb in the traditional sense.

How do know he'll take away touches from just the backs...hopefully he will take some of Cams. I believe he just wanted to play for this team. He seen the dynamic in our offense and wanted to be a part of it. He took less money to be on a team that is about to take off like a bat out of hell! Winning( and being closer to home) trumps the amount of touches he will receive...JMO.

Good point. Tolbert probably wanted to play for a 6-10 team rather than splitting carries as a RB for the Steelers or remain with his current team.

Panther are on an up swing. Chargers are on down swing, may have a new coaching staff after this year. The steelers don't look like themselves. Our offense fits Tolbert better... so what's your point???

That Tolbert didn't come here to be the 4th option in our backfield (behind Cam too).

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
