i have been dumping waaaaay too much time into diablo 2 in the last week waiting for this.

anyone else doing the same? seems to be quite a bit of people doing the same. Weird to pick up a game after not playing it for 8-9 years and fall back in love with it. Can't wait for D3!!!

Got about half way through with the Witch doctor when I was booted. He's a combo of the necro and druid. You have poison stuff, and summon stuff. Throwing a jar of spiders is the ghey, but the zombie dogs were nice to have. Not as much fun as the in your face style of the Barbarian.

Game play and view are still the same. Kill stuff, knock over barrels, pick up stuff, sell it in town. Feels like an expansions of DII, and not a new game. I'll still buy it...was just hoping for something new.

you sure you played d2? this is nothing like it.

Walk around, follow quests, kill groups of monsters, kill boss monsters, pick up stuff that have varying degrees of quality, pick up magic, rare and unique items, sell stuff in town, rinse and repeat. The basic game play is exactly the same, as is the point of view.

i'm confused. were you expecting a completely different game? of course the gameplay is going to be similar. it's a hack n' slash game from a top-down POV. they've added tons of new features (ie. auction house, PVP arenas) and revamped the overall mechanics of the game entirely.

Congratulations, you just described the RPG genre.

Kick off, run play, pass play, punt, field goal, touchdown; rinse and repeat. It's the same game play every week!

I'm still trying to decide what char I'm starting first. I finished the beta with each char, and I'm torn between the monk/barbarian and wizard. Can't decide if I just want to roll up in a room and rape face, or use spells to decimate monsters....

can't decide between barb, dh or monk. monk seems like it has the potential to be pretty lame though.

i like characters with mobility and the barb doesn't seem to have a movement speed buff (other than sprint) in this game.

Barbarian was the first one I did with the OB, and it was the easiest...at least a low levels. I never had to use a healing potion with him. Most stuff was a one hit kill, and it was hilarious to see zombie body parts landing in the trees 5sec later.

DH was weaker than the old Rogue, but should have some good potential once it gets a tasty ranged weapon.

I thought the WD was the most fun. I liked both the Necro and Druid in the DII, and the WD was a cross between the two. I played a round with a friend of mine, and we both had the WD. Darts were flying all over the place.

I didn't really like the Monk much, probably because his armor was weak for somone who used HTH combat. But he may be bad ass once he gets his skills up there.

ugh.. the more research i do on this game the less pleased i am. they better not fuging ruin it.

apparently there is absolutely no competition in the game. no dueling, sure, that sucks... but i can live with it. the arena system will be a joke. no rankings, just a W/L record. apparently this is because of the RMAH (real money auction house). i don't understand why they can't add simple options such as disabling items purchased from the RMAH in PVP.

seems like there won't be much replay value.

I don't remember an arena in D2 and people played that for a decade....

you could duel and trade in d2. that's what the game was all about.

you can't in d3.

d2 came out 10+ years ago, much more is expected of games now-a-days.
