Carolina Panthers Round 1 Draft Selection - Luke Kuechly

I can dig the pick.. I thought we would address the secondary though. Everyone is all surprised thats it wasnt a DT... we got 2 last year and signed 3 or 4 last year. Let them develop and address other needs. Go Panthers!

Yep. People just refused to listen when Rivera has been saying for months that DT was not an area of need in his mind. We had rookie DT's thrown to the wolves last year without playin next to a vet.

I hope you guys are right. Because i really hate this pick. He doesnt even come in as a opening day starter unless someone goes down. Dont get me wrong great player, but my gut tells me this wont improve our defense much.

He will def be starting game 1

Next year you will be crying for a DT or DE... But our real need is wide out, then you will say I trust Hurney he knows best.

They use rush linebackers. Gloried Defensive Ends.

did you have a point?? What about timmons?? best cover LB in the league playing in the middle. Just trying to make you see that LB's are actually very important and not to be confused with FB's as you did.

I think at the end of the season we will look back and be glad we did not go DT. I believe McClain and Fua will improve greatly. DT's typically take a few seasons to develop.

I agree with you on DE. But I think DE was weak in this draft. Perry and Ingram were more olb than de... and there were a bunch of ? about Coples.

I agree on McClain and Fua and Coples, I know it's not the popular pick but Floyd was mine after Blackmon was gone.

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
