Steve Smith, Best Player In Nfl

For the people saying Smith isn't the best player in the league, your argument would make more sense if Smith wasn't ranked in the top 5 in receiving yards last season. With only 300 yards away from the "best receiver ever made" Calvin Johnson and the new rules in today's league placing a lot of importance on the WR position, is it really that big of a stretch to call Steve Smith the best player in the NFL? It's not like this thread was meant to be taken literally, why can't you guys just roll with it? What started as a simple player appreciation thread turned into a worthless shitpile of hate.

Just to be a dick. For the people saying Smith is the best player in the league, your argument would make more sense if Calvin didn't beat Smith in 8 out of 10 receiving stats listed on NFL.com

My Zod you two sound like spoiled brats. You cannot change anyones mind, so you resort to ridicule in a feable attempt to sound superior. You two deserve each other. Not that there is anything wrong with it.

It shows to go ya, people will do damm near anything to get attention. What do they call people like that? Oh yeah, the last guy picked.

So Smith is the best simply because he plays for the Panthers but that doesn't apply to anyone else? You sound like a dumbass

Chef17 are you not very good at reading comprehension?

The only thing I ever argued was smittys status in the nfcs and someone considering julio jones over him.

I know you may think you have this judgemental tough guy act down but I'm not impressed.

Enjoy yourself in here.

Nowhere in my post was a being a tough guy but nice try. My mission here isn't really to impress you.

Ok name active receivers that have these accommodations! No Smith may be past his prime, and they are outstanding new gen of wr that will benefit in this passing league.......but until they earn these accommodations....they are not better then Smitty

In 2001, Smith was the first rookie to make the Pro Bowl as a special teams player since Tyrone Hughes in 1993.

In 2003, Smith’s 404 postseason yards were the most since Jerry Rice gained 409 yards in 1988.

In 2005, Smith became the first player since Washington Redskins' receiver Art Monk in 1984 to lead the NFL in receptions for a team that ran more often than it passed.

In 2005, Smith earned the NFL's receiving "triple crown", leading the league in receptions (103), yards (1,563) and touchdowns (12).

Smith is one of only three players in history to run back two punts for touchdowns and catch a touchdown pass in the same game.

Smith holds an NFL record for highest punt return average in a single game (51.0 yards).

Smith led the NFL in receiving yards per game in the 2008 NFL season.

All time Panthers leader in yards received (10,192), passing Muhsin Muhammad with (9,255) in 2011.

I know there is more this is just a copy/paste from wiki

I beg to differ career stats mean more current. Anyone can have a pro bowl year then regress to a role player or get injured. What makes a player great to his team is how he contributes consistently over a long period of time and provides stability to part of the franchise.

After a great Mothers day: Steve Smith is still the best player in the NFL. Cam Newton is still the best QB in the NFL. Deangelo Williams is still the best RB in the NFL. Jonothan Stewart is still the best RB in the NFL. Ron Rivera is still the best Coach in the NFL and Jon Beason is still the best LB in the NFL, etc. etc. etc. And, I don't give a damn what you people think.
