People twist comments out of context. I never said Williams was washed up or the best running back last year. But saying he is overpaid & not in those guys league is absurd. If you look at the stats he clearly produces at as high a level, if not higher, than any other RB in the league.

I agree that McCoy had the best year in '11 by a RB. But that doesn't mean he is a better back, because IMO Williams is just as good. Just because other running backs are given a heavier load and put up bigger numbers doesn't mean they are better.

If Hurney & JR didn't pay Williams they risked losing him. Then everybody cries they are cheap. You have to pay your core guys.

True, but you kinda left it wide in the open for interpretation. At first glance it seems you're actually saying he's over paid and washed up. I'm sure not everyone realized that you were continuing from the other thread that troll heyyall made. In the end it's a good eye opener for sure.

As long as it doesn't cause the team to be maxed out & lose players down the road I am all for it. Richardson has always taken care of our guys & it shows everyone else that if you work hard & do your part he will take care of you. I'd rather over pay to keep our core guys than be cheap or over pay for free agents. I think it might also be JRs way of building a culture to keep the core intact and show the team that three Panthers take care of their own.
