Need Some Video Game Advice

Recommended Posts

I'm not a big gamer, but I'm looking for some games to get for the summer.

First of all, what's the best FIFA game I can get? I'm a FIFA fan, but I don't need the newest version just for an updated roster or something. So which year had the best gameplay, best features, best manager/player mode or whatever they call it?

Does anyone know anything about Formula 1 video games? I had one from 2006 for the PSP and I really liked it, but I would like a newer version, if there are any. I think they come out yearly, but I know nothing about the games. Can anyone tell me about them?

One last thing, what games can you recommend to me? I like sports games, racing games, and I guess adventure games (but not straight RP with a single storyline, more like Skyrim).

Thank you, Nerdvana. Maybe I will become a regular in here soon enough with your help.

anyways for ps3 i would check out the god of war series, they're great action/adventure games. might not be what you're looking for because it is a linear story mode.

i'd avoid uncharted 3 (can't speak on uncharted 1/2) if you dislike linear story modes, game is horrendous and feels like you're watching a movie. everything is practically played for you.

the assassin's creed series sounds like something you might enjoy.

if you're in to survival/horror you should definitely check out deadspace 1 and 2. both are amazing.

not much of a racing fan myself so i can't help you there.

the only sports games i play are madden and nba 2k. madden is madden, it has its problems but can still be fun play against friends. the nba 2k series is improving and i feel as if they're close to nailing the gameplay but as of right now it is a bit glitchy and fake.

edit: how could i forget mass effect. haven't played 3 but 1 and 2 were both great.

You can find cheap copies of Fifa 12 and F1 2011 from Codemasters. If you really like F1, F1 2011 is solid. If you want a racer you can more easily jump into anything in the Forza or Gran Turismo series would be solid.

The NBA 2K series is always good, you should be able to find cheap copies of 2K12 now and I highly recommend that.

Fallout 3 with all the DLC and Fallout New Vegas with its DLC should last you a good bit.

this.

You could easily get 60+ hours out of both games together if you rush and 100+ if you like to tinker with all things that can be tinkered with and do all the side missions. If RPG/Shooter blend appeal to you, its the best bet for the best game at best price (pretty sure you can buy Fallout3 CE (with all DLC) and Fallout NV CE (with all DLC) for 40-50$ total.

    • The difference is about how much player input is allowed and encouraged in the decision making process. Top down teams tend to dictate to players how everything is handled. Disagreements are handled by the coach and players are expected to do what they are told regardless of what they think or feel.  Players are perceived as commodities to be used until we find better. In player led teams player input is encouraged and valued. Players and especially leaders are expected to settle their own disagreements and be accountable to the team but mostly to each other. Players are family to be appreciated and supported in their growth. Is the reality of football the same in both? Yeah there are limited positions, football is a business and winning is the bottom line. Coaches get final say and run the program because that is their job. But in player led teams they feel valued, appreciated, part of a larger whole. Most people who have worked at multiple jobs know exactly what I am talking about. When players try to run the show and don't value  coach input that isn't a player led team, that is a circus which we surely are familiar with in our past.
    • For our pics and trades tonight and tmrw.  Remember, Aho was a 2nd rounder and Slavin was a 4th rounder.
    • Seems to be the consensus from the talking heads. I really wish we had double dipped at center in the 2nd round. Sion will never play in the league.
