Peppers is a drama queen that is enabled by Carey. Both thought Peppers was the greatest thing since sliced bread and that every team would beat down their doors to do a trade. But making the big deal about playing in a 3-4 is stupid. He was never an OLB, no team gives up high picks for an experiment. Would teams have wanted Boldin if he stated he wanted to play TE.

The Panthers' drafting of Brown - and specifically, the fact that they were willing to trade away another firstrounder for him - was a clear message to Pep that whether he stays or goes, the Panthers will move on... giving him the option to be irrelevant and leave, or join a team that'll just be made that much stronger. Win-win for the Panthers.

I think there are 4 major things that scare teams away from spending high draft picks and shelling out major $$ on Peppers:

1. 2.5 Sacks in 2007, 14.5 in 2008 (contract year).

2. 29 years old

3. His reasons for wanting to leave.

4. Ricky Williams type shyness (or possibly worse).

On # 3, if a guy can make 4 pro-bowls, come off a career high year in sacks and still not feel he is reaching his potential then maybe there is something missing from his life that has nothing to do with football? I also think that this combined with # 4 makes teams worried this guy might totally flake out on them.

I'm not saying any of these things are valid concerns, I'm a big Peppers fan - but to another team any or all of these items may compel them to steer clear considering the high price they would have to pay to get Peppers.

You are giving Carry way to much credit on this one. Peppers agent really is not a agent at all. The only player he has is Peppers so that should tell you right there. No Player nor agent(Thats smart) wants to risk injury to his player by letting him play on a Fran tag. One blow to the knee or one shoulder injury and he stock falls like a rock. Carry tried crude tricks to get Peppers to FA and it hurt his stock in the process. No teams wants to mess with peppers now cause they dont know if he just might change his mind once again and Dont want to loose picks and Pay 30 mill for him to Develop in the 3-4. Thus Peppers is stuck with two options Play or sit and my guess is he is trying to make his mind up if he wants to just stay in Carolina or not as of right now.

If you want to see it as me giving Pep's agent credit that's fine but when you look at this entire situation it makes sence that those two options are the only two Peppers wants. Whither that's a smart move or not is a different question. But if Peppers doesn't want to be traded then not signing the tender is the right move.

Problem i that the team i playing hardball, so I doubt he even gets the option for that. He either signs long term here or plays under the tag for at least two more years and then his value will have dropped and he might have lost his chance for what ever it was he wanted out of this situation. Bright side if he plays both seasons he gets 37 million guaranteed for two years.
