NFL.com Article on Jon Beason

Well if he doesn't return as the elite player we know him to be, then wouldn't you say his prior injury has certainly been a detriment to his career?

I don't think that's the case at all, though. Beason's hard work, determination, and football smarts will certainly allow him to come back from this injury. Maybe he won't always be 100%, but even a 90% Jon Beason is better than 99% of the NFL's MLBs.

K Ill start. Now way in fuggin hell the Luke ever "replaces" Beason unless he has a career ending injury.

Luke is a top 10 pick. If he pans out and Beason never returns to what he was....he will replace Beason.

No he isn't

look at how average he looked when asked to make a position change a couple years ago and get out of his routine. Lower a health % and it impacts a players instincts.

Leadership and communicating has alrready been deemed has necessary components to his positon by Rivera. If he returns at 80% he will still be our starting MLB.

An 80% Beason could start off the year but won't keep the job long playing at 80%.

Which is why Luke is learning the MLB spot. Beason is also learning....he doesn't have a lot of experience playing in this scheme either. He has an NFL edge...but not the edge of playing in a scheme for years

Its not a job for the losing once a man is put in a leadership position. He is either the guy, or he gets traded and shipped off.

We have to wait and see how he performs but Jon Beason IS our Defense. His mentality and passion and intensity cannot just be replaced. I was confused when we drafted him but that just proved to myself that I'm not employed by the NFL for a reason.

    • Big win for the Tarheels today.  I think they already have more Q1 wins this year than they've had the last three years pre-conference.   Still need to learn to close out games, but their size and stretch ability is going to be a problem in April.  GDTBATH
    • I like your strategy but one point of contention.   After 3 years I don't think you have folks not watching and simply going off box scores
    • I’m not even too concerned about people giving him credit. Just reading the box score and making assumptions isn’t always correct. Then when it gets corrected or challenged a whole little meltdown happens. There are plenty of honest data driven metrics to hold Bryce accountable in a negative way. There is no need to make up some (not directed at you). You are typically straight forward with your assessments and I appreciate that.  I’d say we are probably stuck with Bryce next year unless a too good to be true option happens. Hopefully we upgrade QB2 and take a flier on a mid to late draft pick to be our developmental QB3. I’d love Lance in FA and if Allar falls to round 3 or later I’d be all over that too. If Canales is truly good at developing QBs Allar has every took you want.
