NFL Piece On Stadiums

Recommended Posts

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d82a5c85c/article/nfl-stadiums-go-from-boom-to-swoon-in-span-of-a-decade

This article covers pretty much everyone but I'll quote the Panther stuff.

Carolina Panthers: A year-long study is under way in Charlotte to determine the upgrades needed at Bank of America Stadium, with the Panthers looking at a major renovation of the 16-year-old structure. There's no lease in Carolina, and owner Jerry Richardson has no succession plan for the club, so keeping the stadium updated is a priority for the team in keeping the region an attractive place to be.

What's fascinating about the above list is that of the seven clubs, only San Diego and Atlanta are thought to have a fighting chance at an entirely new stadium. It illustrates how the landscape has changed in a decade-and-a-half. It also underscores how even owners who opened stadiums in this millennia have some home improvement to do.

The focus for now is getting the Digital Antennae Systems (DAS) and Wifi up to speed and integrated, and that's a constantly moving target. The Cowboys, Colts, Patriots, Saints*, Panthers, Cardinals, Giants/Jets and Niners are among those leading the charge.

I love how people on the outside love to hint that the Panthers could leave with phrases like "no lease" and "no succession plan". I don't really see them ever meeting Roger Goodell's requirements to relocate.

What do you guy's think they could do to upgrade the BofA? I really don't see a way they could modify the bowl seating itself. Maybe add more stuff to the concourses and luxury boxes. Maybe bigger scoreboards. The one thing I do know is ticket and PSL prices will go up.

1) updated scoreboards

2) technology in the suites and club levels for the uppity people

3) escalators to upper deck

4) machine guns at entrance to take out douchebags in Steelers jerseys

5) they will need to build a parking deck soon

Other than that, BofA is great.

I like the WiFi idea...

However, I really would like them to expand the team store. It get's so fricken packed in there.

Also a bigger scoreboard would be nice and like the above poster mentioned, escalators would be huge. Hell, even TWC Arena has escalators.

They are working on that right now actually.

Note: The Team Store will be closed indefinitely for remodeling beginning Saturday, April 14th, 2012. A Grand Re-Opening is planned for August 4th at Fan Fest. Beginning April 30th, 2012, a temporary Team Store location in the form of a mobile trailer will be open Monday through Friday, from 11am to 2pm outside the East Gate at Bank of America Stadium. Parking is available on Mint Street. Please note the mobile trailer will be closed July 4th - 8th.

Hopefully it will be bigger with more room to move.

I like the escalator idea. Although I like to think I'm burning off those Nachos on my way up. It's not really a renovation but I would love to see better stadium food. Darren Rovell is always posting amazing looking food served at other stadiums.

Possibly they want to make some changes to the way the stadium drains because of the Jaguars game.

I just wish there was more they could do outside the Stadium. Be it activities or grass fields for tailgating. It's tough I'm sure because of land value.

Screw escalators, let's just hire Sherpa's to carry everyone to their seats...

Seriously though, If you can't make it up the switchbacks to your seat then you are disabled and thus eligible to take the elevator...otherwise more walking and less eating solves the problem.

hell why stop at escalators? why not just install a couple of cranes in each section and charge fatasses and lazyasses twenty bucks a pop to have the operator swing their flaccid sentient bodies into their sections. for an extra ten bucks a porter can carry you to your actual seat.

embrace the lard

It still gets to me that when they actually "updated" the scoreboard and jumbotron a few years back, it was barely an improvement...barely noticed the difference.

catapult seating eject detonation systems should be attached for anyone who sits down at the kickoff and that includes handicap areas

Pfft, suck my ass dude. Stadiums have escalators, it's common place.

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
