Janoris Jenkins has trouble signing deal.

Recommended Posts

If you want to cover your ass then don't draft a problem child in the 2nd round. When you draft him you are signing up for the baggage. You can't hold his money hostage.

It is not HIS money until they reach an agreement on a contract. The Rams are fully within their rights to offer a contract that they seem is commensurate with both the talent and BIG risk that Jenkins brings.

With high risk guys teams will offer a smaller signing bonus but higher yearly salaries. ie Aaron Hernandez

The Rams are doing whatever they want but I'm on Jenkins side on this one

Rams are having a great offseason with Janoris, Quinn DUI and Gregg Williams hire being flushed.

Wow, the Rams are dbags for this move. Why not do that bullshit for every pick that you believe has a chance to bust/fug up

Period.

Why not?

None of these guys have taken a snap in the NFL and some of them will flame out, with millions in hand.

Make them earn their keep.

I agree...the Rams overdrafted Jenkins to secure having his talent...now they want to mess with his pay. It is not right...the Rams are the ones who valued him at that draft position. If he was a risk(which he is) then roll the dice with another player or draft him a round later...where his money is way lesser.

The Rams really have little leverage as they need him to possibly start...he should hold out until.

If you don't want to pay that then you are always welcome to trade down from the top rounds and take a bunch of seventh rounders. No real guaranteed money there.

I am not sure if thats what I was trying to say.

I just don't see why a draft pick cannote be paid "X" amount of money before his first snap, THEN have incentives to base how much he will make.

Nothing super hard in the incintives, realistic goals and lots of money for exceeding expectations and going above and beyond.

I hit the pie button by accident.

I don't see where the player has any leverage in this........he doesn't sign, he doesn't play.

he'll make his money in due time.............Rams just need some insurance.

Also.......Jenkins made his bed.

Jenkins has a little leverage bc the Rams used a high pick to get himand have huge needs in the secondary. Jenkins bed has been made and thats why you do not draft him that high...however that bed was not made in the NFL yet...so unless he gets a DUI in negotiations I dont understand why it would be urgent to hit his pay. The Rams gave him his leverage by his draft slot.

If you are a team that needs cbs and your high draft choice is a cb, the team is in the wrong to try and insert lower money or bonuses to him.

    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
    • Push em to the brink!!! Shut em down Freddie!
    • I tend to look at all of these guys and wonder how committed they are to doing special teams? It's a big deal when you're fighting for roster spots. And we need massive refreshes to all phases of the special teams game. And the idea that four or five of these players could see rotational use outside of special teams would be a win. This team has accumulated quite a bit of dead wood over the last five years and its time to take an axe to some of it. These new fellows have a shot to benefit from that if they can really push. That being said, wow that receivers room is crowded right now. I'm not sure if I was a vet player with more than 2 years experience other than Adam Thielen if I'd be too sure of my future here. Tet is guaranteed a spot, Coker earned his for sure and they aren't done with XL developing yet. That's only two to three spots left for the entire room. It's going to be very competitive and better for Bryce's future, too. Safety and linebacker are the opportunity spots here this season. There's room for the right guy and we may see a starter eventually from one of these UDFAs, either by merit or injury.
