Sorenson: T.Davis and his Knee

Along with the name calling and my loyalty questioned, there has also been a lot of taking my comments out of context and reading what you want to read. Typical huddle behavior however and it's to be expected.

No where have I ever said:

I want Thomas Davis to get hurt again.

I am an expert on knee injuries.

I don't like Thomas Davis.

I'm a Panthers fan and I hope Davis makes it through the entire season. Why wouldn't I? We are a better team with him on the field.

I just don't think it's going to happen. Don't like my opinion? Awesome. But the name calling and questioning my integrity is immature and pathetic.

as far as "battle of wits without a weapon" - LOL. Man, that's rich!

My whole argument is based on medical evidence and history. This is going to be extremely difficult and returning back to form would be unprecedented. Go talk to a post-op PT and let them tell you how difficult it is to return from just one of these types of injuries.

You guys need to take the panther glasses off and be realistic and logical. Grow up.

If you had come on here and said that you support Thomas Davis and want him to do well and hope he can but have your doubts, then all the negatives wouldn't have happened. But you said he was done, bet people 100 dollars that he wouldn't make it 6 games and then continued in a negative fashion predicting failure. You suggested that your health degree gave you more understanding than my daughter's athletic training degree from UNC and her almost completed PHd in physical therapy from Elon University and so forth. Your whole argument is not based on medical evidence and history unless you can answer the question of how many people have attempted to come back from 3 ACL surgeries and failed in the NFL. Because he is the first and it hasn't been done doesn't mean it is any harder or more difficult if he is the only one who has attempted it. The other question is how many NFL football players have had the patellar tendon surgery and it failed versus the ACL cadaver versus the hamstring muscle and tendon. Until you can answer those questions with any information then you don't have any relavant medical information. You have just parroted what you read in an article with no insight or information into his actual case, rehab routine or anything else remotely resembling medical information.

As for asking a post op PT how difficult it to return from this injury, I don't have to. I had ACL reconstruction surgery using a patellar tendon from my other knee and know exactly what the rehab requires. While I don't pretend to be a world class athlete, the rehab to 100% is similar, given I wasn't a world class athlete to begin with.

Maybe you need to stop talking and listen more. You might learn something.

This whole thread has turned into the stoning of mr.touchdown

I think Thomas Davis has a small chance of holding down a situational / special teams role. With the knee...at this point it is what it is...it will probably get re-injured just because of how violent the NFL is...but he may make it.

I learned all I need to know from school, books, and facts. Not a collection of morons with access to a computer.

How and when did you injure your knee if you don't mind me asking?

One more thing, how many games has Davis played in the past four years? Why are we supposed to expect anything different? hope for the best prepare for the worst.

I've said all along, and it appears that this may be the philosophy that Chico is implementing, is that Davis needs to only play half the snaps and when certain situations call for him. Kinda like when Davis was basically used as a spy for Vick earlier in his career. That was his priority and he was very good at it.

Anderson/Beason/Luekly looks like a good starting corp with Davis coming in on 1 & 2 down. JMHO.

There are people wanting to bet on his demise. Thats pulling for him to fail.

False. I just know a good opportunity to take some suckers money when I see one.

When I bet on NFL games, I always 100% of the time bet against the Panthers. I'm not some high roller laying down a G on NFL games but if I'm going to lay $40 down and the Panthers are involved I always take the other team. Win Win!

Well I think we can all agree on this.I have never seen a guy work any harder to come back year after year.If anyone can do it ,it is him. There are obvious variables that will ultimately determine if he can make through the year. The important thing is he believes he can and has done everything in his control to come back.Good luck Thomas Davis!

I played "tore" in scramble with friends so I think you're mistaken.

'He's tore' is wrong. It would have to be 'he tore'.

I don't believe there's a first time for everything, but nothing says you can't come back from 3 ACL's except that it hasn't been done yet. You CAN prove a negative, but if Davis' knee fails, it doesn't prove anything. It's just another statistic.

I know that poster who called my post "garbage" wants to get pie & rep off of me, but no player in the NFL has ever successfully returned from 3 devastating ACL injuries.

You will likely end up being right, though I hope not.

But how many players have tried to come back from three ACL injuries? If its only a few or none, then your argument is a non sequitur.

    • This And with possibly needing to replace Bryce next year and a deep QB class, I do not hate the idea of moving far enough back to pick up another 1st rounder next year out of the deal. I wouldn't have said that a week ago, but I also never expected us to land 3 big FA's at our 3 biggest positions of need like we have, it totally changes things.
    • The OL has certainly been better than the trainwreck it was three or four years ago. As far as competitiveness let's apply some realism and clarity here. Quite a bit of the competitiveness in 2025 came from the defensive side of the ball which gave up the most points in league history the year before and was one of the bottom 5 units in terms of salary cap allocation for 2025 while the OL was top 3. We had the 26th passing offense last year. And if not for a herculean couple of games from Rico Dowdle we don't back our way into the division title or make the playoffs because we went 4-6 in our final ten games including being swept by the Saints who were starting a rookie 2nd round pick most of us mercilessly mocked when they selected him. In conclusion yes we've seen a difference. The question now is will the investment pay off the way we want. But the only way that happens is if we field a top 15 offense. If we can't even crack the top 20 then there need to be some very warm seats across the board. And I would hope just about anyone here should agree with that.
    • These Spurs are lowkey loaded.  If healthy, they could win it all this year (#2 in the West right now). I still think we’ve gotta keep Kalk on Wemby; he’s not getting completely dominated like every other NBA center.
