Hate the poo.

Throw it against the wall, and see what sticks.

If someone calls you out on it, ya piss and moan about how ya gotta have a link. Never mind that someome else might be telling ya the truth.

Then down play it, cause ya look like the idiot you werre for talking out of your ass in the first place.

I'm down playing a 4million dollar difference?

So if you had your choice in jobs you would take 1 paying 4 million less?

You could never negotiate a contract for me.

every man.is different.

I know that I'd take less to be part of something better/special.

Many do.

You are obviously driven by greed. Good for you.

You are also not man enough to admit you were wrong.

PC i know you have to be right all the time. But you can't down play a 4 million dollar difference in contract offers.

You can't say we offer Spoon about the same money and it be a 4 million dollar difference in the contracts. That's not about the same money.

I'll take a mill less maybe 2 (not really) but no way I would take 4 mill less. Special in the prime of my career when I was a 3rd round pick. No way would you or anybody turned down top OLB money.

He got offered more than fair contract to remain a Panther.

He turned it down, to get more money playing mlb.

I don't blame him.

I also don't blame Hurney for poo that he get accused of doing. Lol

I'm not blaming Hurney either. He gave the most money to what he thought would be our better player. He couldn't see what would happen to #55.

But let's not act like he did it just to play MLB. 4 mill extra for a 3rd round pick is a good move for Spoon.

i said from the beginning, he left the panthers offer, to take more money playing for the rams.

When were talking about multi million dollars, I'd be happy with just one.million. I could live comfortably for the rest of my life, letting my money work for me.

I understand I'm in the minority. That doesn't bother me.

Any time you enter a thread with as many pages you know you are going to get these bs off topic slap fights. Nobody even noticed the only relevant post on the page.

Something needed to change with those horrid safeties. They really need some lift there badly.

Good for Haruki. He can add something to this squad. I agree that tackling and communication are big deals, and he should bring that. I don't know that he's a better matchup, but it's something the team has to trade off on.

Hopefully Martin can remain useful for the year. For whatever it's worth, he was drafted to be a cover 2 safety, which requires less mentally and more physically. The upside is he's done well on special teams, so he'll remain an asset for the year.

FWIW, here are some more on the numbers with Godfrey/Martin. Neither were good in coverage either, last year. Plenty of things went wrong last year, and clearly Ron Meeks was sent off with that in mind - Steve Wilks is so much better, in my opinion - but neither safety was good last year and while I'd have been fine with Godfrey's contract if he could've repeated 2010, when he was not as good as Martin in QB rating but did have 5 picks on a team that was terrible, they could have simply waited out the year and watch him be poor in 2011.

The problem was, the 5 picks were the only real high point - he had 18 missed tackled in 2010 - more than Martin's 15.

But, we're more or less stuck with Godfrey, so hopefully JR's right about him being a leader, and hopefully coaching can make him into a difference maker again.

Oh, and while I'm wishing, maybe they won't play him as close to the line so often this year.

Godfrey's INTs in 2010 also weren't impressive. Tipped balls by other players and poor throws into no man's land.....they weren't him reading a play and making a move on the ball.

His stat sheet looked nice in 2010....but a lot of the stuff we saw in 2009 and 2010 of him struggling to make a tackle and bein late in coverage where the common theme again.

Rivera got stuck with Godfrey simple and plain. A poor Hurney move extending him...tough to get rid of him so Rivera has little choice but to praise and hope for improvement.

That was a Hurney move....Godfrey got that before playing under Rivera. Martin is gone bc Rivera(Carolina) doesn't need to have 2 S that cant play extended and hurting the team.

Rivera got stuck with certain players temporarily. He has to use them.....has to praise them. We extended a lot of guys to big money before Rivera walked through that door.....

I would think that Rivera had some input on Godfrey's extension since he was the new HC.
