So after the week one Monday night games, half the league's message-boards (huddle included) will panic and the other half will have their teams winning the super bowl. Typical knee-jerk message-board dribbage. You can tell by my handle I really hate losing to the Bucs....but c'mon...just chill. I expect we'll look much improved next week.

They finished 2 games over at 9-7 and wouldn't have even made the playoffs except for the fact that their division sucked. If they were in the NFC south they would not have made it in as a wild card. With our division the way it is we can't afford to lose to these shitty teams and still have any chance at the playoffs. 9-7 isn't going to get it done most years. And after yesterday that is being optimistic anyway.

9-7... Minus 1 win puts them at 8-8.. Therefore, 1 game over .500.

But if you want to jump off a bridge because we lost 1 game, then be my guest.

Knee jerk doom and gloom reaction from the lesser experienced huddlers is a tradition here.

I don't post here often, but I'm as big a Panther fan as anyone, and I think being an 'experienced' Panther fan makes 'doom and gloom reaction' a perfectly reasonable repsonse. In 17 years we've had exactly 4 winning seasons. I'm tired of losing. I know the past is not necessarily an indication of the future, but we have a tradition here. You can call it negativity or realism- your choice.

the fact that carolina had no rushing game at all and still had a chance to win at the end, is awesome imo. past years, this would have been a blow out 42-0. The game was a grudge match between 2 division rivals. Was a good game, we didnt win but it was a good game to watch anyways.

I disagree. It was NOT a "good game". The defense played well, but the O-line was painful to watch. I don't consider a half-hearted effort from our o-line, poor play-calling and a lack of urgency a "good" thing by any measure.

It's not negativity or realism - it's utterly foolish logic.

Tired of losing? OK. I'm with you there. I'm also tired of losing.

Doom & Gloom because we ran into a buzz saw of a motivated team in their field and we were not prepared for that level of intensity from them? Epic Fail.

Doom & Gloom because we were terrible in the past so we will surely be terrible in the future? More epic fail.

Doom & Gloom for any reason after one game? What the serious fug man.

Well we're not the Giants, Packers, or Saints*. Not even close. Even in defeat, their offenses atleast looked like they know how to play at an NFL level. Not to mention, we play New Orleans, New York, and at Atlanta (where we always struggle) the next three weeks. 0-4 is a serious possibility and 1-3 is very likely. Before the season started, I looked at our first four games assuming we'd be 2-2 or 3-1 with TB being the sure win. Well we lost that game and the next three don't look pretty either. I say we beat the Saints* and lose the other two. So no, those three teams aren't done yet and technically neither are we, but those teams are likely much more capable of bouncing back than we are. Luckily for us, we face two of those three in these upcoming weeks and we still control our own fate.

I hate to be such a negative Nancy but yesterday's game was really deflating as a fan.

I think your entire team felt the same as did the experts on ESPN. This bootleg play I ran like four dozen times seemed to work well. My inspiration for the play and our gameplan was a game of Tecmo I was playing before kickoff. I saw our entire playbook from last year on there!

    • I agree with OP notion, QBs always get credited for game winning drives even if they do minimal. Just last night Caleb got credited for a GE drive when they basically ran the ball the whole drive and only had to go 36 yards.   And there are drives where Bryce could of had a game winning drive if not for a Legette drop vs Philly or a Chubba fumble vs Tampa
    • You are actually, genuinely comparing Bryce to Jimmy fuging Pickles? Jimmy accounted for 3 touchdowns in his 10 starts in 2010. In Bryce’s 10 games post benching last year, he accounted for 20 touchdowns. Jimmy threw three touchdowns in 2010. Three. Bryce has thrown 10 touchdowns through 6 games. He is currently on track to throw for 3300 yards, 28 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. Wtf are we even talking about anymore. I mean seriously
    • Tepper? The guy that directs the coaches towards goals that he set for them… that guy. He is the one.    I don’t think he ever was going to be expelled from class, they had him come in for garbage time maybe the 2nd week he was benched.  I will say this. People said he wasn’t under pressure the last part of the year when he did better, but he was fighting for his career and that’s pressure. And he saved his career too. I don’t reject him for those kinds of things I reject him for the physical things. I have always brought it down to he has slim margin for error and has to be perfect. People with the tool set have a little fatter margin for error. Why make it harder on yourself? Got nothing to do with hating him.  I am no statistician but game that margin thing out a lot and see how that works.
