Keep Pounding - 2012 Panthers - Week 2 (Video)

Wow, did we throw a lot of different looks at Brees down the stretch. On the 3rd down pass break up by Gamble, we were in a 5-1-5 with TD/CJ/Hardy/FA/Applewhite as the 5 down linemen, and Beason as the lone LB. Oh, and for those that still dont believe Gamble is a shutdown corner, he totally locked down the left side of the field by himself on that play.

On the 4th down play we were in a 2-4-5 with CJ & Hardy as the down linemen, and TD/Beason/JA/Applewhite as the LBs. I saw this formation in the preseason game against the Jets, and instantly knew it would be a favorite of mine.

There's a lot of GIF worthy plays in here.......

Enjoy!

Someone please check out the 5:39 mark. We're in a freakin 5-1-5 with Beason as the lone LB, and TD is lined up in a 3point stance at the LDE position. Please check out what TD does to Pierre Thomas when he tries to come out the backfield. You can also see it on the replay as well.

My God!

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
