89 started screaming and cursing at Cam last night

Josh Norman needed to be benched... he was so bad I started to miss Munnerlyn.

Catman, I just didn't see it that way.

They were playing zone almost the entire game. He gave up some catches, but so did Gamble (and some YAC as well). This is coaching. Norman typically excels in man coverage or where he at least gets matched up and runs with a guy out of his zone.

I do NOT understand at all why we are giving opponents a 10 yard cushion every snap.

ive never seen cam on the sidelines looking at pictures of plays or discussing with coaches how to fix mistakes. It looks like we have one game plan(which almost is like playground style) and if it works, good. If not, oh well.

It's beginning to look that way isn't it.

Newton and Chud both need to be reined in...sorry but its true and its the HC who does that.

They need to go back to smash mouth running the football until this calms down and I don't mean Newton running the football either.

The need to run the football, short passes, move the chains, and take shots.

Not this option poo, then bombs away. This is the NFL not Pop Warner.

JPP is just is big, faster, and quite possibly smarter than our QB and OC.

Just watching us play the Stains last week, when Drew was on the sidelines, they gave him pictures of each play and coverage. Us, it's just like I said, playground style.

Not to pile on but from a purely on the field look at the team, the lack of audibles and pre-snap awareness is concerning.

They cut to one shot last night of Cam on the bench and a coach (Shula?) was beside him trying to show him some pix. Clearly, Cam wasn't interested, definitely not focused on it.

I'm not a football guru, so speaking of audibles, is this the reason Cam just does the count and that's it, while Manning spends the entire time under center on every play pointing and barking orders? That alone impresses the hell out of me for some reason.

I missed that, at least they attempted. I just don't ever recall seeing Cam on the sideline not with a towel on his head alone, this year or last. To be somewhat fair, I watched on NYG local tv last night and usually stream games so I don't always watch Panthers broadcast, where they might would show that more.

There's a clear lack of on-field communication with the team in general (not just Cam)

Maybe its because Chud is in the booth and Shula is the main sideline communicator for Cam while Ron just kinda stands there...I dunno but it results in fragmented in-game flow on offense

I don't understand why the QB is allowed to sit on the bench and not be part of talking to the other QBs and coaches.

He is PART of the team he isn't THE TEAM.

On JPP, exactly, and BTW that was a player we had th opportunity to draft and didn't.

I don't mean to pile onto Newton, there are plenty of other issues with this team; but, QB is the leader. I saw it last year and thought, ok, he just needs to learn; but, in year 2, that crap in the press conferences and the sidelines to stop.

I manage people. I don't like it; but, I do. The way I act, the way I lead, the way I do things under pressure has a mirror effect on the people around me. Cam has got to get that and understand it. If it doesn't, it's over. Draft someone else.

If we are totally honest with ourselves, who on this board thought Newton could/would lead a comeback?

I would have a problem with Smitty tearing into Cam (he gets upset when he's losing, there's no shame in that) except for the fact that he did his Superman after his touchdown. Like really? You just made it 33-7. Maybe wait till it's a 3 possession game before you start celebrating. That rubbed me the wrong way. I'm glad Smitty gave him a piece of his mind.

I think what youre missing is that Cam and Smitty's on field celebrations dont have anything to do with personal gratification. Theyre trying to pump the team up and get them fired up when they do that. Theyre NOT celebrating (maybe the Cam superman thing was a little). . but they are statements for the team not the individual player.

I realize a lot of you have never been in a leadership position in a sport before . . or played team sports for all that matters, but sometimes there arent any other options that can fix the problem on the spot in the game. You got to get out there make a play and then turn to the sidelines and go "AAARRRGHHHH BAM MUFUGGER! GO ON AND GET IT LIKE THAT BITCHES! CANT HOLD US!" You have to turn to the crowd and say "IT AINT OVER! PUT YOUR HANDS TOGETHER! THIS IS OUR HOUSE!". . . .

Otherwise, the common man will become accepting and complacent with losing or getting beaten. It is an incredibly difficult thing to do and even more difficult when you have a pro football sized ego.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
