Observation on the season so far - a big picture look (resident pessimists don't bother reading)

It bothers me that in 3 games we have only attempted one field goal. That;s just weird.

that has bothered me as well. it's points left on the table.

granted, we haven't been getting the best field position for it, but there's just something odd about only having one attempt.

Depends, if they bounce back this week and at least play a competitive game then yea, I'd guess anywhere between 8-8 and 10-6. If they lay another stinker, I could see us being as bad as 4-12. If they actually manage to win, there's not a team left on our schedule I don't think we have a good chance of beating. There's no team left on our schedule that looks as good as Atlanta right now, so it'd all depend on how many games they decide to sleep through like last week. I'd guess anywhere from 8-8 (if they continue the trend if alternating off and on games) to 14-2 if they play to the fullest of their capabilities for 13 more games.

I want some of what you're smokin'!

I'm quite bothered by that myself.

We have only been in position to kick one twice. We opted to go for the first down against New Orlean's on 4th and short.

The field postion battle is really killing us. We actually outgained the Bucs in yardage in the loss to them. The Giants only had 69 more total yards than us. The Saints actually outgained us in total yards.

The Giants and Buc's also owned the time of possesion by an entire quarter's worth (15 minutes) or more.

To me the reasoning is quite simple. Way to aggresive on offense and too conservative on defense. I'd like to see some more aggresive defense and not play these soft coverages where our corner's line up 10 yards or more off the recievers and Nakumara playing 15 or more yards back further than the corner's. Or maybe he is putting too much confidence in his linebackers to cover the middle of the field and they just are not reacting quick enough.

We seem petrified of getting beat deep so we allow the other teams to nickel and dime us all the way down the field. So they eat up the clock and at least come away with a field goal.

Then chud who seemed like a mastermind last year has not been fooling anyone and refuses to make proper adjustments. The results of this have been drives that consume no time and fail to consistently move the chains and makes Cam more prone to forcing a turnover.

We shall find out a lot about our coaching this week. There is no possible rational excuses this week for either coach.

Fast foward to Dallas, they essentially lean into the same game plan against the Cowboys and I think everyone was surprised by how quickly it started to look complimentary.  In my opinion the productive offense really helped the defense as well.  We played quite solid against a top offense. Finally we make our way to the Jets and Bills, Chubba's return.  You can't say the low scoring affair and return to ineffective football against the Jets was all on Chubba, they were indeed a better defense and so was Buffalo.  But the production difference between the two backs in both games was both visually and statistically obvious.  The bigger picture is the offense took a major step back as well.  They are other moving parts and it's isn't all one thing, BY9>Dalton by a decent margin at this point.   But yeah, Rico's vision and athleticism is just better than Chubba and it jumps at you.
    • First day in 3 weeks my pain started to dwindle just a tiny bit.  Got switched from hydrocodone to post-shingles pain patches.  My insurance refused to pay for my patches as I’m too young for shingles per them.  I also need a prescription to get shingles shot and insurance also won’t pay for it even thought I just had shingles and in high risk to get it again.
